Trump says McConnell is ‘pawn for Democrats’, calls for his ‘immediate’ replacement

Former President Donald Trump called on Republicans to oust Sen. Mitch McConnell from his post as Senate minority leader, accusing the Kentucky senator of being a “pawn for the Democrats.”
Citing a story from The Federalist about McConnell and his wife Elaine Chao’s association with China. The couple has business ties in China as Chao’s family owns a shipping company that transports goods to and from the region.
Trump on Wednesday called for the senator’s ouster from his longtime leadership post.
“Mitch McConnell is not an Opposition Leader, he is a pawn for the Democrats to get whatever they want. He is afraid of them, and will not do what has to be done. A new Republican Leader in the Senate should be picked immediately!” Trump said in his statement.“
Trump has been attacking McConnell since the senator denounced the former president in Congress for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
Over the weekend, Trump lashed out at McConnell for making comments last week about “candidate quality.” He was referring to Republicans running for Senate, with most of them endorsed by Trump.
“I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate,” McConnell said. “Senate races are just different, they’re statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.”
Trump also attacked Chao calling her McConnell’s “crazy wife” and “Coco” in his Wednesday post. , Chao served as Transportation secretary during the Trump administration and resigned from office one day after the Jan. 6 attack.
Trump also made a call to Republicans last year to select a new Senate leader to boost the GOP’s chances of retaking Congress in 2022.
“I think we’re going to do very well,” Trump said at the time. “We need good leadership. Mitch McConnell has not done a great job, I think they should change Mitch McConnell.”
It remains to be seen if Senate Republicans will heed Trump’s calls for McConnell to be replaced. McConnell has led the GOP party in the chamber since 2007, making him the longest-serving GOP leader in Senate history.

Most Republicans feel the same way and as soon as possible they need to elect a new Senate AND Speaker of the House! Senator Cruz would be a good choice as well as Jim Jordan. I DO NOT want McConnell as the Leader of the Senate and seniority has NOTHING to do with effectiveness. McConnell has never been a strong leader and has allowed the Democrats to walk all over him way too many times.

McConnell must have had a memory lapse when he made that comment. If I recall correctly, Trump endorsed him during his last election. What was that McConnell said now about “candidate quality”?

He not only needs to be replaced as Minority Leader in the Senate, the good people of Kentucky need to wake up to the fact that McConnell needs to be shown the door for his Senate seat as well. He long ago stopped being any value to anyone but himself, his wife and the Chinese.

Until President Trump was elected and exposed the government deep state, most Republicans were like farm club members for the Democratic Party. Democrats actually helped them stay elected as a backup plan for when major bills required a 2/3 majority to pass. The Democrats have so corrupted our system of government all the way down to the dog catcher, anything short of another revolution won’t fix it. The last two or three generations of children have been indoctrinated to be socialist. Federal law enforcement agencies are Democrat controlled enforcement used to crush any opposition or election integrity.

McConnell is right. The GOP has made poor choices. Those poor choices are going to cost the GOP Senate seats in PA, AZ, WI, and GA. Each of those seats should safe GOP seats. Instead, we have candidates that try to out Trump Trump. They are handing control of the Senate to the dems because they didn’t pass Trump’s fealty test. You can say what you want about RINOs, but it was those RINOs that put Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barret on the Supreme Court. Those RINOs approved 234 conservative federal judges. And Trump is throwing that away.
