Trump wants McConnell to be ‘replaced’ as Senate GOP leader ‘ASAP’

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Former President Donald Trump has so far been unsuccessful at challenging McConnell’s leadership post.
- A Politico report describes how there is little appetite among GOP senators to oust McConnell.
- Only two major GOP Senate candidates running in 2022 have explicitly called for new leadership.
Former President Donald Trump has been wanting to replace Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell as the top Republican in the Senate.
After Trump’s second impeachment trial for “incitement of insurrection” for his role in the January 6 riot, McConnell declined to find him guilty. But didn’t pass the chance to scold the former president on the Senate floor.
Later, McConnell said that he would support Trump if he became as the GOP presidential nominee in 2024. Their relationship changed for the worse.
Despite Trump’s enormous influence among the Republican base, his efforts to pressure lawmakers to dislodge McConnell have so far failed to take off. GOP members have continued to overwhelmingly back the veteran senator, according to a Politico report.
Months of attacks from the former president — which included calling McConnell an “Old Crow” and blasting his vote for President Joe Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure framework — have only yielded two firm pledges from GOP candidates to oust the Kentucky Republican as the leader of the party’s caucus, a post that he has held since 2007.
No GOP senator has currently gone on record opposing McConnell as Senate leader. No challengers have emerged from the ranks of the upper chamber.
Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, who was strongly endorsed by Trump last year, told Politico that McConnell is doing “a good job.” He added that voters “care more about what you do as a senator, what you bring up, what you voted against, how you fight for it.”
However, Trump’s criticism has only become more pronounced in recent weeks.
Shortly before Biden signed the bipartisan infrastructure bill into law, Trump once again scorched McConnell for backing the legislation and mockingly implored him to attend the signing ceremony.
The former president also called out McConnell for supporting a deal that allowed Democrats to raise the debt ceiling by $2.5 trillion earlier this week.
“How this guy can stay as Leader is beyond comprehension — this is coming not only from me, but from virtually everyone in the Republican Party,” Trump said in a statement released on Wednesday. “He is a disaster and should be replaced as ‘Leader’ ASAP!”
Anti-McConnell sentiment has still failed to gain much traction among the GOP base, though.
Only two major Republican Senate candidates have explicitly called for new leadership: Kelly Tshibaka, who’s running in a GOP primary against incumbent Lisa Murkowski in Alaska next year, and former Gov. Eric Greitens of Missouri.

McConnell lied to all Republicans and the country when he said after his first betrayed us on the first vote. He said it will not happen again and he did it twice more! He should retire and not run! You cannot believe a word he says now! I appreciate the work he did on judges and thank him for what he had done but that vote was a no-brainer! And he voted with the DemocRAT Politicians and convinced 12 others to got with him!

McConnell is owned by China, just like many others. His wife’s family owns one of the largest shipping companies in China and when they say jump he doesn’t even ask how high, he leaps right out of his shoes. This man is just as dirty as Piglosi, just much sneakier about it.

The same for Donald Trump. “How this guy can stay a Leader is beyond comprehension—-this is not only coming from me but virtually everyone from the Indian Nation”. He should be ashamed of himself for always name-calling. He is worst than “old crow”. At least, crows mine their own business and not meddle. I heard once by an old ancestor; if you judge others; you are worst. The whole world knows what he has done to the American people because of his greediness for money and power, which is unacceptable. Mitch McConnell is doing his very best. At least, he did not cause an “insurrection” on January 6, 2021, and lied about the election fraud. Mr. McConnell at least has brains wisdom and knowledge, while Trump himself is a FRAUD. He deserves what troubles are upon him. Instead, he is like a chicken without a head, Mr. McConnell just keep trucking; do not let this bother you. Trump is going to be out, soon.

To Young Eagle: I am Linde Barrera, a retired teacher from the Blue State of NY. I voted for Trump in 2016 and in 2020. I voted for Trump because he had an “America First” agenda and is a businessman, not a lawyer. Lawyers= loopholes. Please don’t forget that. I was also present standing elbow to elbow at the open air plaza level of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2022. I was also at The Ellipse to see and hear Pres. Trump give his speech first. He never said to cause a riot. Trump said something like this: “Let’s fight like hell to investigate the electoral college votes and the popular vote.” So what happened inside the Capitol started before Trump even finished his speech, and much of the doings were done by ANTIFA and US government plants (not the green growing varieties.) So please give Trump more credit than you give him. Trump really wanted to disrupt The Swamp but was unable to do so because there are so many 2 faced lawyers/elected officials in DC who are only out for their own pockets and wallets. In my opinion, they care about their constituents maybe 20% and about America maybe 10%. They should all move to Communist China; I will help them pack. Dec. 22, 2021 at 12:20 pm EST.

So about those “ U.S. government plants”. I assume that whomever you think they were, they must have been sent by President Trump, since he was the head of the government. Or maybe from his chief of staff ? And about the China stuff . . . Also a Trump thing, since his clothing line, along with his daughter’s brand, was made in China ? Just asking !

It only goes to say you are only human and not perfect. There’s no such thing as a perfect human being! Apology accepted. I for one did not vote for Trump! But, I did vote for him the second time around only against Joe Biden! I knew that Joe Biden was not presidential candidate! And the person he chose for his running mate Kamala Harris sealed his dome!! She has no credentials what’s so ever. Not even from her state of California as DA. She was a total disaster! And again she didn’t even try to make an effort to make an attempt at the border! She is now saying because she is a person of color! She is just an opportunist! I would have chosen Condoleeza Rice, or Susan Rice! These are women of color with highly respectable credentials. And as such, I have seen presidents come and go! Some good and others not so good! Since most have been around for long periods of time, we know who they are? I am dead set on voting for Tulsi Gabbard for President if and when she becomes a candidate for President of The United States of America. She will make the American people, and the nation proud again as to who we truly are as a people as well as the world. If people don’t know who is Tulsi Gabbard, all you have to do is research! She is young with a load of baggage of credentials and qualifications. She is currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America as a Lt. colonel in the State of Hawaii. I will vote for a new beginning! #TusiGabbard2024????????????????????????
