Tucker Carlson recently shared insights into how his perspective on Donald Trump has shifted over time. During a podcast appearance, Carlson reflected on his initial support for Trump’s political agenda, which focused on tackling illegal immigration and ending U.S. involvement in Middle Eastern conflicts.

Carlson explained that he was an early supporter of Trump’s platform, stating, “I felt that immigration was wrecking the country. It turned out to be right. And I felt that the Middle Eastern wars were, like, completely evil. And I still think that.” He emphasized that these issues were central to Trump’s campaign, and he strongly backed them from the beginning.

While Carlson acknowledged moments of frustration with Trump, he maintained that the core message of Trump’s campaign resonated with him. “The Trump idea that, you know, we should have a democracy, that people should kind of get what they want… the government should be responsive to the people,” he noted. Carlson expressed his belief that as a citizen, he is a “shareholder” in the country, not a “slave,” and this principle underpinned his support for Trump.

Trump’s policies have garnered widespread public support, including measures to prevent biological males from competing in female sports, deport illegal immigrants, and reduce government waste. In his 2016 announcement speech, Trump famously declared, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best… They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Carlson also shared his thoughts earlier this year, suggesting that Trump could become “the most effective president” in U.S. history if he avoids escalating conflicts with Iran and Russia.
