Liz Cheney: Cruz and Hawley ‘unfit for future office’ [Video]
- Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) considers Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) unfit to be presidential candidates for their views about the 2020 election.
- Cheney said their actions following the election “fundamentally threatened” the Constitution.
- Cheney also cast doubt on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for “campaigning for election deniers.”
Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney (R) believes that Republican Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Ted Cruz of Texas are unfit presidential candidates for “fundamentally” threatening the Constitution after the 2020 election.
During an interview for ABC‘s This Week, host Jonathan Karl asked Cheney on her thoughts about Hawley, Cruz, or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis being potential presidential candidates. All three have been seen to have similar views with former President Donald Trump.
Cheney thought supporting any of the three “would be very difficult.” She explained, “I think that a fundamental question for me in terms of whether or not someone is fit to be president, is whether they’ve abided by their constitutional obligations in the past.”
The congresswoman remarked that both Hawley and Cruz “know better” and “know exactly what the role of Congress is, in terms of our constitutional obligations with respect to presidential elections, and yet both of whom took steps that fundamentally threatened the constitutional order and structure in the aftermath of the last election. In my view, they both have made themselves unfit for future office.”
Cheney lost her state primary to Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, but she believes that “the real work” has just started. She means to keep Trump out of the White House again, including working against “election deniers.”
“I think that we’ve got election deniers that have been nominated for really important positions all across the country,” Cheney said. “And I’m going to work against those people. I’m going to work to support their opponents. I think it matters that much.”
Cheney added that DeSantis is “campaigning for election deniers,” which should be something to think about. “Either you fundamentally believe in and will support our constitutional structure, or you don’t,” she continued.
Cheney currently serves as a vice chair on the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot. She warned her fellow Republicans during a committee hearing, “Tonight, I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.”

Let’s ask Lizzy for examples of democrats not fit for office, like any that claim to be socialists. I mean, we are not a socialist country, so, AOC? Bernie Sanders? Are they “fit” to run for office? And who made her the authority on who can and cannot run for office? She talks a lot about the constitution, but I don’t recall seeing anything in that great document saying Liz Cheney is the authority on who gets to run or not. It’s always been, up to the voters to decide. Except in 2020.

Liz refuses to acknowledge what we all know. Due to Covid hysteria several states violated their own election laws by mailing out unsolicited ballots, allowing ballots to be stuffed into unsecured dropboxes that were unverifiable regarding who filled them out, allowed ballot harvesting by special interest groups, counting ballots that weren’t properly sealed or turned in, counts done behind barriers that prevented poll workers tasked with observing official counts from doing their jobs, and other acts that call the validity of the last election into question. The people who did these things and want to continue uncontrolled mass mail in voting, vote harvesting, voting without ID or proof of eligibility to vote, and other practices that open our elections to fraud with complete disregard for the rule of law are the ones who jeopardize our Constitutional Republic.

Cheney seems to have forgotten Al Gore and the democrats questioning G. W. Bush winning Florida where it took Gore 36 days after the election to admit Bush won. She also seems to have forgotten dozens of democrats taking to the Floor of Congress where they challenged the electoral vote in many states just because Trump won. Does she find these people unfit for office. Over 5 years they tried to remove Trump for office just because they didn’t like him.
