Trump threatens McConnell for supporting “career-ending” gun bill

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Former President Trump threatened Sen. Mitch McConnell for supporting the gun safety bill.
- In a Truth Social post, Trump urged Republican lawmakers not to vote for the “career-ending bill.”
- McConnell and over a dozen other GOP lawmakers helped the Senate pass the landmark gun safety bill on Thursday.
Former President Donald Trump lashed out on his social media platform on Thursday against the bipartisan gun safety bill. He issued a threat to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has supported advancing the legislation along with over a dozen other GOP lawmakers.
On June 12, twenty Republican and Democratic negotiators created a framework for the bipartisan gun bill following a series of mass shootings in the U.S. The group was led by GOP Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Thom Tillis of North Carolina, along with Democratic Senators Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona and Chris Murphy of Connecticut.
Earlier Thursday, Trump slammed the legislation in a Truth Social post, calling it a “career-ending bill,” and singled out McConnell. He also urged GOP lawmakers not to vote for the bill.
“Mitch McConnell’s push for Republican Senators to vote for Gun Control will be the final straw. Just like he gave away the Debt Ceiling and got NOTHING in return, or handed the Dems a great sound bite and victory with the Infrastructure Bill, which is actually all about the Green New Deal, he is now forcing approval of the FIRST STEP IN TAKING AWAY YOUR GUNS! Republican Senators SHOULD NOT VOTE FOR THIS CAREER ENDING BILL!!!” the former president wrote.
McConnell and Cornyn have not responded to comments requested by Newsweek.
Trump had attacked McConnell in recent months. He issued a warning to the top Senate Republican about the gun bill in a Truth Social post on Wednesday.
“The deal on ‘Gun Control’ currently being structured and pushed in the Senate by Radical Left Democrats, with the help of Mitch McConnell, RINO Senator John Cornyn of Texas, and others, will go down in history as the first step in the movement to TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY. Republicans, be careful what you wish for!!!” Trump wrote.
The bipartisan bill would strengthen background checks for gun buyers under 21, financial incentives for states to pass “red flag” laws and other intervention programs, and close the so-called “boyfriend loophole” to prevent people convicted of domestic abuse from owning firearms.
The legislation, the biggest gun reform measure in three decades, passed the Senate with the support of 15 Republican senators, including McConnell and Lindsey Graham.

The anti-gun crowd has, in my opinion, gotten WAY out of control.
I do not, and never have, owned a gun. But once you start voiding
parts of the original constitution, you are setting a very dangerous
precedent. Guns are not the problem. Criminals are the problem.

Anyone that is supporting violating the Constitution has violated the oath of office taken when they swore to protect & uphold the Constitution. Violating their sworn oaths of office should give them a 1 way ticket to the unemployment line.

I’m not surprised in the least about these 20 RINO, anti-constitutional, anti-American morons. Rush Libaugh, for over 30 years, warned us about most of these characters, 3 hours a day, 5 days a week…….and they’re STILL in office, and STILL going against the American people and our American values. They had better read the U.S. Constitution, uphold their oath, and get out the dictionary to see what the words “Shall Not Be Infringed” means. It doesn’t mean “compomising” and giving away our GOD-given, “inalienable” Constitutional rights, EVER!!! But, that’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from these communist, fascist, anti-American democrats and RINO’s.

What’s it going to take to get those idiots in DC to see that it doesn’t matter what kind gun reform you put in place it will not stop criminals from getting their hands on whatever kind gun they want. Records checks doesn’t mean anything to them. Furthermore, the focus needs mental illness side of it and the reason people hate. Plus they to put thought into conflict resolution.

The commies in charge know what they are doing. Take the guns from law abiding citizens so they cant protect themselves from the criminals. Why do you think they want open boarders. They want a communist regime & Big Techs will be getting all the illegals to join them for low wages. Biden has sold the USA out. Wake up America.

It’s just theft of goods…….nothing to see here. Hiw did the war on drugs go? A great success or a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars? Government sure does know how to piss away money.

Because these commie pigs know that these laws will not “save lives”. Not even one life. They are not stupid. But they know they can’t turn the USA into Canada or Australia with the 400 million firearms out here. And the reason they don’t care about criminals with guns is a couple reasons. One, they have their own private security, 24/7. And mainly because, well, do you think criminals will fight against them if they do go full on commie? So they, the elites, don’t worry about criminals with guns, because it does NOT affect them, in any way, shape, or for.

John Cornyn has been a RINO for a long time. He is a CAREER POLITICIAN and has No Business earning a paycheck. He jumped on this issue thinking it will pacify those who have called out his total ineptness for a long time. He even went to Ukraine for a PHOTO SHOOT to make it look like he is actually doing something…What did he do there? What has he EVER done for America?
Anyone who is IN VIOLATION OF THE CONSTITUTION has NO business in our government!

When guns are outlawed – Only outlaws will have guns. Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. Many years ago, England rounded up the worst of the worst and shipped them to a vacant “island” . There must be somewhere we could ship all these duds. It doesn’t have to be an island, howsabout just somewhere in the middle of an ocean.

And they finally took the guns away from the prison island……now they’re phucked. Home Invasions have gone up exponentially because of no fear of being shot. Reap what you sow.

It would be great to ship Congress to an island with no way off!!!
They are disgusting. If you run as a Republican you vote as a Republican, not a Rino!!!!!!
Term limits are a must but it will never happen!

How about this. We give every commie pig liberal a “free” ocean cruise. Keep them loaded on booze and free drugs, and when the ship gets over the Marianes Trench, we yank the cork out and let them sink to the bottom of the ocean. As an added bonus, they will be much closer to their final destination…HELL.

The democRATS are corrupt and devious among other AMERICA destroying agendas, but they are smart in that they chose vice presidents that are worse than they are to avoid impeachment, such as obama/biden and biden/harris,but the democRATS sure screwed up on their choices for presidents.

I am a constituent of Senator Mitch McConnell. If there is any viable alternative candidate to Senator McConnell, then I will vote for that candidate. If there is none, I simply will forego making an entry on the ballot, effectively abstaining. Mitch is a negotiator who has compromised, capitulated, and appeased on critical interests of Kentuckians and other Americans. Senator McConnell no longer represents me.
