Michael Avenatti, the attorney who rose to fame for his constant media attacks on Donald Trump, has been transferred from federal prison to a halfway house. Despite his early relocation, the disgraced lawyer remains under heavy government supervision for his past financial crimes.
Avenatti’s criminal history includes a 14-year sentence handed down in 2022 for stealing millions from his own clients. One victim of his fraudulent schemes was a paraplegic man who Avenatti swindled out of settlement funds.
Under the terms of his community confinement, Avenatti is required to undergo mental health treatment and avoid controlled substances. He remains obligated to pay over $5.9 million in restitution to those he defrauded during his legal career.
The Bureau of Prisons confirmed he is currently managed by the Long Beach Residential Reentry Management Office. If he complies with all conduct conditions, his official release from the halfway house is scheduled for September 2028.
Following his time in the residential facility, the former media personality will face an additional three years of supervised release. His current location remains undisclosed as he begins this new phase of his sentence.
