A Florida father, Esdra Burges-Cruz, was arrested after allegedly attacking a school employee following his son’s ban from riding the school bus. According to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Burges-Cruz stormed onto a school bus on May 2 while it was stopped in Ocala and struck the employee in the chest.

The bus was loaded with students at the time, and the incident caused a delay.

After approaching the bus and being denied entry by the driver, Burges-Cruz reportedly told the driver to “shut the f–k up” and boarded anyway. He then began yelling at the bus aide, and video footage shows Burges-Cruz slapping the employee in the chest with what appears to be an open hand. Students can be heard screaming after the aide is struck.

Burges-Cruz denied boarding the bus without permission and claimed he never struck anyone. However, after a student provided video evidence of the incident to a school resource officer, Burges-Cruz was arrested for assault.

The Marion County School District released a statement emphasizing that they expect adults to behave appropriately, just as they expect their students to do so.

Burges-Cruz was charged with battery on a public or private education employee, burglary, and disturbing the peace at a school function. He was taken to the Marion County Jail without incident, and his bond was set at $17,500.

Clear thoughts:

The recent incident involving a Florida father attacking a school employee after his son was banned from riding the school bus is a disturbing reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe environment for our children. It is essential for parents and guardians to remain level-headed and respectful when dealing with school officials, as their actions serve as a model for their children.

Unfortunately, Esdra Burges-Cruz’s actions demonstrate a disregard for these values. By storming onto the bus and physically assaulting a school employee, he not only endangered the safety of those present but also set a poor example for his son and other students.

Story is vague on what led to this incident. Contact sports are not allowed unless there is immediate harm about to befall a juvenile passenger.

The guy, Erichthered was being sarcastic. It’s obvious by the way he wrote the words he used.
While I agree the parent was wrong, the reaction was over the top. He grabbed the paper violently, but was CLEARLY not attempting to inflict harm on the one holding the paper. The charges brought were more severe than was warranted. ESPECIALLY, BURGLARY? Come on, already.

I had a driver put my 5 year old off the bus at home after I had made plans through the school to have my child dropped off 6 blocks away where my husband and I ran a full service garage/gas station. No one would be home till 6pm and the child cannot be alone at home at 5 years old. No problem …right??? well the moron preacher driving the bus who was to start dropping my child off refused to allow the child on his bus, and told the child no, go get on your own bus. Well, he was at 5 years old dropped off and no one around as we lived in a rural town. The bus the child was to be on came and left without dropping the child off. I was frantic wondering if he was still on the bus or not. I called the school and asked and they had no idea what I was talking about. My child was then found walking down the highway alone, crying, scared, etc. I too was experiencing the same. Where was my child?? Needless to say the next morning the driver who refused to let my child on his bus got a mouthful of negative words as I entered his bus. This 6ft6 piece of chit male driver had lied to me about the school not allowing my child on a different bus do to insurance laws. It was BS but the preacher man of god lied his azz off. The school took action and the driver was fired as he should be.
