Leavitt highlights Trump midterm push to protect GOP majorities

Clear Facts
- Karoline Leavitt stated that President Trump remains optimistic and defiant despite traditional midterm headwinds facing the party in power.
- Republicans confront persistent inflation, high gas prices, and low voter turnout among MAGA supporters in off-year elections.
- Leavitt framed the contest as a clear choice between conservative candidates focused on tax cuts, border security, and American citizens versus radical Democrats.
Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says President Trump is pushing hard to overcome midterm challenges and defend Republican control of Congress.
She spoke this week in New Hampshire, where she noted the president understands the historical trend against the party holding the White House.
“The president is defiant, and he always is optimistic,” Leavitt said.
Trump has been traveling extensively, visiting North Carolina, South Carolina, and Michigan to rally support.
Leavitt explained that the president is reminding voters of the stakes and urging even those who typically skip midterms to turn out this cycle.
“He’s being frank and honest with his voters that ‘I know you don’t turn out in midterm cycles, but we need you to this time.'”
Republicans also face lower enthusiasm among their base when Trump is not on the ballot.
Leavitt pointed to the fundraising edge Republicans hold and the policy contrast with Democrats.
“This election is a contrast between commonsense Republican conservative candidates who believe in cutting taxes, securing the border, putting American citizens over illegal aliens, and radical extreme liberal crazy candidates, some of the most radical Democrats we’ve ever seen run in the history of our country.”
Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin claimed Republicans are “running scared” and spending heavily in traditionally red areas.
Leavitt countered that the GOP’s financial advantage will help voters understand what is at stake.
