Federal authorities confirmed the arrest of Said Jama Ahmed after he was spotted crossing into the United States from Canada. Fingerprints matched records collected by the U.S. Navy during a 2012 operation against pirates holding an Indian ship hostage.

Ahmed previously entered the country through Arizona in 2022 and faced multiple law enforcement encounters before this most recent capture.

Officials highlighted that he was also wanted for passport fraud and had been previously detained during an investigation into fraudulent documents.

“Weak Biden administration border policies allowed this illegal alien to enter and remain in the country despite his multiple law enforcement encounters,” said DHS acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.

Acting Assistant Secretary Bis further emphasized the ongoing risk posed by current protocols regarding national security and the protection of the American homeland. Domestic agencies are currently working to process the extradition warrant issued for Ahmed following his capture by Border Patrol agents.

“DHS will continue to work to arrest criminal illegal aliens to protect the American homeland from all threats,” said Bis.

The apprehension follows warnings regarding the depletion of emergency funds as the department continues to operate under significant financial strain. This arrest underscores the persistent threat of dangerous individuals exploiting border vulnerabilities to gain entry into the interior.
