Husband Under Scrutiny in Bahamas Disappearance Mystery

Clear Facts
- Brian Hooker remains under suspicion by police following the disappearance of his wife Lynette in the Bahamas.
- Hooker claims his wife fell off their dinghy during rough conditions near Elbow Cay on April 4.
- Family members and local residents have publicly challenged the husband’s account of the incident.
Brian Hooker recently concluded a five-day detention by Bahamian authorities while investigators continue to probe the suspicious disappearance of his wife.
The 59-year-old husband maintains that Lynette fell overboard while the couple returned to their sailboat in conditions he described as rough.
“It’s been 10 days, it’s been a long time, I don’t think I’ve ever been apart from her in 25 years for this long,” Brian said in an interview with NBC News.
A longtime Bahamas resident disputed the claim of rough waters, stating the harbor area is typically sheltered and shallow.
Family members also noted that Lynette was a strong swimmer, making the account of her drowning even more questionable to her loved ones.
Past domestic issues have also resurfaced, with the victim’s mother alleging a history of physical abuse during the couple’s 25-year marriage.
These allegations include a 2015 domestic violence incident in Michigan that has drawn fresh attention from those seeking the truth.
“With the lifestyle that my daughter and her husband live, I had been preparing for that phone call for a long time,” Hamlett said.
Hooker denies any involvement in his wife’s disappearance and suggests the police focus on him is due to intense media coverage.
Search efforts continue as the victim’s daughter arrives in the Bahamas to assist in the investigation.
“I said I’d never harm Lynette, and I never would harm Lynette, and I want to find Lynette,” Brian told NBC News.
