House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries targeted President Donald Trump on Sunday.

He was reacting to social media posts labeling Democrats as the greatest enemy to the nation.

The New York Democrat responded during a televised interview, suggesting the President’s rhetoric could lead to violence.

“Donald Trump should keep his reckless mouth shut before he gets somebody killed,” Jeffries said.

The exchange followed a post on Truth Social where President Trump emphasized the threats facing the country from within the political system.

He specifically named the Democratic Party as highly incompetent and a primary challenge to the United States.

“Now with the death of Iran, the greatest enemy America has is the Radical Left, Highly Incompetent, Democratic Party! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT,” the president wrote on Truth Social.

Jeffries also used the platform to pivot toward the war in Iran, characterizing the situation as a strategic failure by the current administration.

He noted that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has sent domestic gas prices soaring, increasing the financial burden on American families.

“They clearly didn’t anticipate some of the things that have happened, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. What you’re seeing right now are gas prices are through the roof, and that’s adding to an environment in America right now where life has already become too expensive for the American people because of failed policies by Donald Trump,” he said.

Regarding future military funding, Jeffries remained noncommittal about whether he would lead his party to vote against upcoming Pentagon appropriations.

He instead signaled a move toward a War Powers Resolution to terminate American involvement in the region.

“Well, we’ll have that leadership conversation when we actually have a piece of legislation that is in front of us. But I can tell you, uh, there is strong opposition right now to the notion that this war of choice — that is reckless, that’s costing the American people now more than $30 billion — should continue. We need to move, which we plan on doing in short order, a War Powers Resolution so we can bring this situation to a close,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Jeffries accused the administration of prioritizing foreign bombs over the domestic economy.

He warned that the ongoing conflict would likely result in an expensive and endless failure for the United States.
