Kurt Russell recently shared details regarding his modest childhood. His family moved from a Maine log cabin to East Los Angeles.

His father, Bing Russell, moved the family to California to pursue acting after a baseball injury ended his professional sports career.

“For two years, we lived in the attic of a family friend’s house in East Los Angeles,” Russell stated.

The family eventually saved enough to purchase a home in Pacoima as Bing’s career stabilized. Russell followed in his father’s footsteps, earning his first television role at age ten for a payout of $110.

“I took my sister Jill down to the local bike shop and bought us two new Schwinn bikes. I called my father’s agent and said, ‘Count me in, I like this,’” Russell recalled.

Now a leading figure in the industry, Russell is starring in the new series The Madison. He noted that his character’s experiences often mirror the deep reflections he has regarding his own life and legacy.

“As you get older and you’ve only got so much time left, that doubles things up in terms of looking at what you’ve done in your life so far and what you want to do with the rest of your life,” Russell said.

Russell also highlighted the importance of his forty-year relationship with Goldie Hawn when discussing his current role. He praised the portrayal of a truly loving partnership.

“Their relationship, it’s the kind of relationship you almost never see anymore. It’s a truly loving relationship. It’s not like there’s another shoe to drop,” he explained.
