Michelle Obama appears to throw shade at Trump: ‘Once our time is up, we move on’ [Video]
- Former first lady Michelle Obama may have thrown shade at former President Donald Trump during her speech at the portrait unveiling ceremony at the White House.
- Obama stressed the importance of a “peaceful transition of power” after a president’s term has come to an end.

Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama were back at the White House on Wednesday for the unveiling ceremony of their official portraits. During her speech, the former first lady may have thrown shade at former President Donald Trump when she emphasized the importance of a peaceful transition after a president’s term has come to an end.
Obama stated, “You see, the people make their voices heard with their vote. We hold an inauguration to ensure a peaceful transition of power.”
“Those of us lucky enough to serve work, as Barack said, as hard as we can for as long as we can, as long as the people choose to keep us here,” she continued. “And, once our time is up, we move on. And all that remains in this hallowed place are our good efforts and these portraits.”
The ceremony was hosted by President Biden on Wednesday, after a series of delays. It has been the tradition for first-term presidents to host the portrait unveiling for their immediate predecessors, but Trump had declined to host the Obamas. The ceremony was then scheduled last fall, but was further delayed due to the pandemic.
Remembering her humble background, the former first lady said that it is “still a bit awkward” to know that her portrait will be hung “next to Jacqueline Kennedy and Dolly Madison.” But she acknowledged that such a tradition matters “Not just for those of us who hold these positions but for everyone participating in and watching our democracy.” She noted that the portraits symbolize how “every single American” is included in the “fuller story.”
Obama also talked about the current divisiveness in the country. She said that while some might believe that democracy “has lost some of its shine” amid the darkness of “division and discrimination,” she and her husband continue to believe that “what we share… is so much bigger than what we don’t.”
“Our democracy is so much stronger than our differences,” she declared.
There has been interest in whether the former first lady will run for president in 2024 if Biden decided not to, given her popularity. According to a November poll, she was the second lead for a 2024 Democrat candidacy, following Vice President Harris by just 3 points.

Truth is, Michelle’s husband had been dangling the idea of a Third Term, and wondered if he was popular enough to pull it off. As soon as the question was brought up, it was immediately rejected by a Majority of Voters, sinking Obama’s 3rd Term Battleship!
As we know now, Obama has gained his third Term through Biden and the help of Susan Rice., who Berry depends on to keep Biden in line and ensure the Obama Policies are continued!
