WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

  • Elon Musk plans to build a town on thousands of acres of land outside Austin, Texas, for his employees to live and work.
  • The town will be adjacent to Boring and SpaceX facilities and will feature affordable housing for employees with below-market rents.
  • The plan includes building 110 more homes in the planned town, which it calls “Project Amazing.”

Elon Musk is reportedly planning to build a town for his employees to live and work in, on newly purchased land outside of Austin, Texas. According to land records and people familiar with the project, Musk envisions a “Texas utopia” along the Colorado River, where his employees could reside in new homes with below-market rents.

The planned town is adjacent to Boring and SpaceX facilities, which are currently under construction, and will be incorporated in Bastrop County, approximately 35 miles from Austin.

The project is being led by executives at the Boring Company, with some employees envisioning even bigger plans, including creating an entire city. During an all-hands meeting of Boring employees last year, the company’s president, Steve Davis, said they would have to hold an election for mayor, according to text messages and people familiar with the meeting.

The plan includes building 110 more homes in the planned town, which it calls “Project Amazing.” Bastrop County officials have already approved street names such as “Boring Boulevard,” “Waterjet Way,” and “Cutterhead Crossing.”

Boring also plans to convert a home on the property into a Montessori school for as many as 15 students, according to correspondence between a Boring company official and a county government employee.

The land purchases have taken place through at least four limited liability companies, which are tied to Musk’s businesses or their officers in county deed and land records and state business filings that list their names.

The plans also include a project to build a private residential compound for Musk himself, which would potentially be some distance from the planned town, according to people familiar with the plans.

      Colorado River
AUSTIN, Texas — One of the most attractive features in Austin is the scenic Colorado River that flows through the center of town, creating our familiar Lake Austin and Lady Bird Lake.Jun 25, 2021

Yes, get a map. Colorado River goes thru heart of Texas, right thru Austin. Towne Lake there in middle of Austin is actually a wide place in that river, due to a dam. Go down the hill to the Colorado River, down Congress Ave from the state capitol. LCRA handles distribution of water down river to the rice farmers, Lower Colorado River Authority.

It would really be nice IF Mr. Musk took care of the Texas towns [McGregor, Oglesby, Gatesville] he has basically destroyed with Space-Ex in central Texas before he destroys another part of Texas. Sounds great & looks great on paper, doesn’t it? Wait until your walls crumble, the earth shakes, your animals are terrified, & businesses fail because no one wants to visit a town with the HORRIBLY LOUD noise of the engines being tested.
