Trump touts ’22-0′ victory after his candidates sweep primaries

Former President Donald Trump boasted of his victories for the 22 candidates he endorsed in Ohio and Indiana. Trump predicted that Tuesday night was just the beginning of a “tremendous season” for all the Republicans he endorses.

Trump told Fox News Digital that it was “a really great night for Republicans.”

“I was 22 and 0. I won every race,” Trump said during the interview.

All 22 candidates whom Trump endorsed won their primary races in Ohio and Indiana Tuesday night. J.D. Vance won Ohio’s GOP Senate primary after a late endorsement by Trump. Vance, the bestselling author of “Hillbilly Elegy,” scored the nomination in Ohio’s crowded GOP Senate primary less than three weeks ago.

“I think JD showed tremendous strength,” Trump said. “It was a great victory for everyone, but I am most happy for the Republican Party because we have great candidates. I think all of them will be winning in the fall.

“It was a great evening for the Republican Party and we love all of our candidates from Indiana, from Ohio, I went 22 and 0,” Trump reiterated.

“I think we’re going to have a tremendous season, I think we’re going to win a lot of races with great candidates who are going to go on to big numbers in the fall.”

Trump is now looking ahead to primary races in Pennsylvania and Georgia. He endorsed celebrity doctor, Dr. Mehmet Oz, in Pennsylvania’s May 17 primary over his opponent David McCormick.

“The Oz race is going to be interesting. I think Oz is going to do very well. Oz is going to do very well,” Trump said. “Georgia is going to be interesting. I have a lot of candidates in Georgia.”

In Georgia, Trump is endorsing former GOP Sen. David Perdue in the state’s gubernatorial race. He’s facing incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp. Kemp is still in a lead over Perdue, both in public opinion polling and fundraising, even without Trump’s endorsement.

For Nebraska’s primary race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination on Tuesday, Trump is endorsing Charles Herbster. The multimillionaire agricultural executive is expected to replace incumbent Gov. Pete Ricketts, a Republican who is term-limited and cannot seek a third term Multimillionaire hog farmer Jim Pillen, who is backed by Ricketts, and state Sen. Brett Lindstrom are also in the race.

In West Virginia, Trump has backed GOP Rep. Alex Mooney over Rep. David McKinley for next Tuesday’s primaries.
