  • Fox News host Tucker Carlson had slammed the military’s measures to attract more female recruits as a “mockery” last Monday.
  • Several military leaders condemned his remarks, expressed support for women in the military, and hoped for Carlson to express regret.
  • But the conservative host continued to fire back and said criticisms from “woke generals” did not rattle him just as they did not rattle the Taliban.

Following the Defense Department’s changes to attract more female recruits, Fox News host Tucker Carlson made controversial statements that were condemned by several military leaders.

Last Monday, Carlson had bashed President Joe Biden’s decision to promote two female generals amid efforts to improve conditions for women in the military. Some proposed measures included allowing a wider range of hairstyles and designing maternity flight suits.

“So we’ve got new hairstyles and maternity flight suits. Pregnant women are going to fight our wars. It’s a mockery of the U.S. military.” Carlson remarked at the time. “While China’s military becomes more masculine as it has assembled the world’s largest navy, our military needs to become, as Joe Biden says, more feminine, whatever feminine means anymore.”

Several military leaders condemned Carlson’s remarks and showed their support for women in the military.

Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston declared on Twitter, “Women lead our most lethal units with character. They will dominate ANY future battlefield we’re called to fight on.”

“We have THE MOST professional, educated, agile, and strongest [noncommissioned officer] Corps in the world,” he added.

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby expressed his hopes that the reaction of the military would prompt Carlson “to express some regret about the manner in which he essentially demeaned the entire U.S. military, and how we defend and how we serve this country,” adding that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was revolted by Carlson’s remarks.

Instead, Carlson fired back at the “woke generals” at the Pentagon, adding that he and his supporters were not “rattled” by their criticisms.

“We were almost rattled. Then we realized if the woke generals treat us like they’ve treated the Taliban, we’ll be fine. Twenty years later, the Taliban are still here,” Carlson remarked on Friday night. “Maybe we ought to promise the Pentagon that we’ll get rid of traditional gender roles on this show. Change the pronouns, defeat the patriarchy, and all that.”
