Wikipedia Editors Reword History, Taint Pine Tree Flag Narrative

Clear Facts

  • Editors have been discovered making multiple changes to the Pine Tree Flag Wikipedia page, seemingly to support a narrative regarding Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s use of the flag.
  • The Pine Tree Flag page has been edited 150 times since May 22, with changes appearing to align the flag with right-wing extremism and Christian nationalism.
  • Previous mentions of the flag’s appearance in popular culture have been removed by recent edits.

The crowd-sourced encyclopedia, Wikipedia, has recently been embroiled in controversy. Editors of the online reference site have been found making numerous real-time amendments to the page on the Pine Tree Flag. These alterations seem to reflect a specific narrative, suggesting Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, who flew the Revolutionary War-Era Flag, should recuse himself from cases involving former President Donald Trump.

This conduct echoes the dystopian novel “1984,” where truth is systematically rewritten to match the political agenda of the ruling party. The Pine Tree Flag page has been modified an astonishing 150 times since May 22nd.

A flurry of changes followed a recent article that speculated the flag, which was seen at the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, has now become an emblem representing support for former President Donald J. Trump. It also hinted at connections to the ‘Stop the Steal’ campaign and a movement to reshape the American government along Christian lines.

The Pine Tree Flag, also known as the “Appeal to Heaven” flag, has deep historical roots. It was originally used by a squadron of frigates commissioned by George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Justice Alito had this flag flying at his beach house last summer.

Reports of several screenshots indicate changes in the flag’s description last week on Wikipedia — under the “Modern Usage” portion — where it was described as a flag used by “a diverse cast of characters, including some Christian nationalists.” However, by Friday, the description had transformed, and the flag was now identified as a symbol of right-wing extremism. Another point noted that the flag was now described as a symbol of Christian nationalism.

Other intriguing modifications were observed. Some edits claimed that the flag was used by “far-right” extremists, yet they overlooked the fact that the flag had also been flown at a Black Lives Matter rally.

The Wikipedia page’s “Popular Culture” section also saw changes, with references to the flag’s appearances in media like the NBC comedy ‘Parks and Recreation’ and the HBO miniseries ‘John Adams’ being thoroughly removed.

The most recent description on Wikipedia portrays the flag as a symbol of far-right groups, Christian nationalists, and the ‘Stop the Steal’ campaign, but also mentions its use at Black Lives Matter protests and other causes. The page also indicates that Justice Alito flew the flag at his New Jersey home in 2023, which drew criticism due to its presence at past far-right events, despite its historical lack of association with the far-right.

The last edit appears to have erased any remaining references to the flag’s “Popular Culture” appearances, leaving the impartiality of the information presented on the Pine Tree Flag’s Wikipedia page in question.

It’s called “An Appeal To Heaven” and it couldn’t be needed more than what it is right now! Our Country is in shambles with the direction of heading straight to hell … And, I’d like to thank Wikipedia for saving me the donations I USED to make …
