WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen published an An-anti Trump ad produced by American Bridge 21st Century.
  • In the ad, Cohen says Trump “can’t be trusted,” appearing to be speaking based on experience as he helped him in covering “the real Donald Trump” a few years back.
  • In 2018, Cohen was sentenced with three-year imprisonment after bribing former Playboy model Karen McDougal and pornographic film star Stormy Daniels to fix Trump’s scandal.

Ahead of President Donald Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention on Thursday, an anti-Trump ad starring no other than his former personal lawyer ━ Michael Cohen.

Produced by liberal research group American Bridge 21st Century, the ad showed Cohen saying: “Later this week, he’s going to stand up and blatantly lie to you.”

“I’m here to tell you he can’t be trusted ― and you shouldn’t believe a word he utters,” he warns.

In the ad, Cohen says that he assisted in crafting a portrayal of concealing “the real Donald Trump,” harping on his decade of service to him.

“He’s going to tell you that if you reelect him, the economy will bounce back; that only he can get us out of this economic crisis. Maybe for those like him. But if you think he cares about working-class Americans, you’re dead wrong,” Cohen says.

“So when the president gets in front of the cameras this week, remember that he thinks we are all gullible, a bunch of fools. I was a part of it. And I fell for it. You don’t have to like me. But please, listen to me.”

Trump was officially nominated as the Republican presidential candidate by the GOP on Monday night. He is set to make an acceptance speech on Thursday.

In 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty for bribing former Playboy model Karen McDougal and pornographic film star Stormy Daniels to keep them from putting Trump in a bad light due to their alleged connection. He is serving the remaining sentence of his three-year detainment in home confinement given the coronavirus pandemic.

In May, Cohen got out of prison but returned shortly after he refused to sign an agreement with the Bureau of Prisons, stating he cannot publish a book. Then he found favor with the judge in July, and he was restricted to home confinement.

The former Trump’s attorney is planning to publish “Disloyal,” a tell-all book that will be out in September. And as the election comes, he is planning to star in other ads. Cohen has ongoing discussions with American Bridge.
