Dems Embrace Swearing as a Strategy to Appeal to Voters

Clear Facts

  • Democratic members of Congress have increased their use of profanity to appear more relatable to Americans.
  • Criticism arose from Democrats’ behavior during President Trump’s address to Congress, where they remained seated and rarely applauded.
  • A Quinnipiac University poll shows only 21% of respondents approve of congressional Democrats, compared to 40% for Republicans.

In a bid to connect with the average American, Democrats in Congress have turned to a surprising tactic: swearing. This increase in profanity is intended to make them seem more relatable. However, it raises questions about authenticity, especially when it appears scripted.

The use of colorful language comes amid criticism of Democrats’ conduct during President Donald Trump’s address to Congress. Their refusal to stand or applaud during the speech, even during poignant moments such as when Secret Service Director Sean Curran presented credentials to Devarjaye “D. J.” Daniel, a young boy battling brain cancer, did not go unnoticed.

Democratic strategist Lis Smith expressed skepticism about this new approach. She stated, “If the first time you’ve used a cuss word in public is reading off a script, it’s probably not authentic and not something you should do.”

Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas has been particularly vocal. She told White House senior advisor Elon Musk to “fuck off” during an interview and later expressed frustration with, “slap me to wake me the fuck up,” after walking out of Trump’s speech.

Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, known for his own use of profanity, questioned the origins of this trend. “Goddamn it, tell me who started that?” he asked. Meanwhile, Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona, a former Marine, attributes his language to his military background.

The Democrats’ struggle with messaging has been evident since Trump’s victory over then-Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Their attempts to engage on social media have also been met with criticism. A video featuring several Democratic representatives, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett, mimicking a video game character selection screen, received mixed reactions.

A recent Quinnipiac University poll highlights the challenges facing Democrats, with only 21% of respondents approving of their performance in Congress. In contrast, Republicans received a 40% approval rating.

As Democrats grapple with their image and messaging, the question remains whether swearing will resonate with the public or further alienate them.

In a word, HORRIBLE. I remember “The good ol’days” when on the radio we could not even use the word urinate unless it was absolutely necessary. And, yes, I still say please and thank you. As far as military service, I left those terms on my submarine fifty years ago. Bill Hill

That just shows the mentality that the democrats have. Don’t know how to interact with decency. They lack character. The ones squealing the loudest and most vocal has the most to lose when they’re investigated for how they got rich so quick in their position.

The Democrats are the party of evil, this is a war of spirituality between Good and evil. This just shows their true colors when they talk with their filthy mouths. It is so refreshing to listen to Trump’s cabinet compared to what we had before they just make them look like total idiots with no wisdom at all.

This Jasmine Crockett needs to be gone she is a disgrace to even the Dumocratic party. She thinks she is outdoing AOC–well they are both shameful and they are a disgrace in the representation of good Dumocrats. They look so stupid and disgusting and their lack of character in using such abusive language shows their low character.

The regular use of profane language, specifically when used by our “elected officials”, shows a total lack of decorum. Furthermore, it exhibits (a) very low esteem (b)disrespect for the public in general and (c) ignorance!

Oh, they are SO trendy with their cusswords (lack of breeding), refusal to acknowledge a young cancer survivor (lack of character) and stoic silence despite positive gains during Trump’s speech (selfishness). One Dem Commentator said that Trump made it all about Trump. No, you dingbat, he didn’t. He made it all about what he has been able to do for the American people.

70 years ago my high school English teacher said that the use of profanity was a sign of ignorance and lack of use of the English language.

We must have had the same English teacher. As a young teen I was trying to be a “big shot” using some inapproiate language and she heard me. She asked me to explain just what those words were meant to convey. Well, uh, um, er, I got the message.

If one’s vocabulary is such that the only way to express oneself is through vulgarities and profanities then it would be best for everyone if the words were never uttered, because they reveal a certain level of stupidity. Not ignorance, defined as a lack of knowledge, which can in some instances be corrected, but just plain old fashioned STUPIDITY!

Profanity is a weak mind trying to express itself.
