Madden movie cast reveals who actually tried legendary Thanksgiving dish
Clear Facts
- The upcoming film Madden focuses on the life of legendary NFL coach and broadcaster John Madden, who popularized turducken.
- Christian Bale, Nicolas Cage, Julian Edelman, and Sienna Miller appeared at the premiere and discussed their experience with the dish.
- Only Sienna Miller confirmed she had eaten turducken, while others expressed interest or described handling it on set.
The cast of the upcoming Madden biopic gathered on the red carpet and faced the question every fan of the late coach wants answered. Have they tried turducken?
The dish combines a chicken inside a duck inside a turkey and was made famous by Madden during his Thanksgiving broadcasts. It has since become a symbol of the coach’s larger-than-life personality and love for hearty American traditions.
Christian Bale, who portrays Al Davis, spoke about food safety concerns after seeing the prop turducken sit out for hours. His practical approach reflects the kind of discipline audiences expect from actors preparing for serious roles.
“I’ve never had one myself. Not because I’m against it — I’m staunchly pro-turducken — but I’ve simply never been given the chance to score a poultry hat trick.”
Nicolas Cage, cast as John Madden, avoided confirming whether he ate the dish. He noted that he got plenty of turducken on his hands while chopping it the way Madden once did on air.
“I also wouldn’t be shocked if, to get into character, he ate nothing but turducken for several weeks.”
Former Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman attended the premiere and admitted he has never tasted turducken. He said he always wanted to try one of the versions Madden prepared by hand each Thanksgiving.
Sienna Miller, who plays Carol Sagal Davis, became the first cast member to confirm she had eaten turducken. She and co-star Kathryn Hahn sampled backup portions prepared for the production.
