Keri Russell recently discussed her early relationship with Matthew Rhys in explicit terms during a podcast appearance. She described the period as one of intense romance and physical intimacy.
“We were like falling in love and staying up all night and like having sex all the time and just like wearing disguises, like, I’m f—ing [in] crazy wigs and like wearing pearls,” she said on the podcast. “When have you ever worn pearls and like, f—ing in trailers and f—ing everywhere. I mean, it was insanity. It was so fun and sneaky, and sexy, and so good.”
The two actors first connected briefly before working together on The Americans in 2012. Their relationship became public in 2014. They now share a son born in 2016.
Russell also has two children from a previous marriage. She told host Chelsea Handler that marriage is unnecessary and that she sees no reason to change her name or legal status.
“People used to have to be married to have a credit card. We can have credit cards now,” Russell said. “I don’t need my last name to go away. I’m cool. If you wanna be here, be here. If you don’t, that’s cool too.”
She emphasized that having a child together represents a permanent commitment in her view. Russell is currently promoting the fourth season of her Netflix series The Diplomat.
