Clear Facts

  • Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have agreed to follow the same debate rules as the first debate with President Joe Biden.
  • The debate will take place on September 10 in Philadelphia and will be broadcast live on ABC.
  • Harris’ campaign had been pushing for changes to the debate rules, including unmuted microphones, but ultimately agreed to the original terms.

Former President Donald Trump has announced that he and Vice President Kamala Harris have reached an agreement regarding the rules for their upcoming debate. The debate will adhere to the same guidelines that were in place during the initial debate with President Joe Biden.

Despite earlier efforts by Harris’ campaign to modify the rules, including a push to ensure microphones remain unmuted while the other candidate is speaking, the original terms have been maintained. This particular rule was initially implemented at the request of Biden’s campaign.

“I have reached an agreement with the Radical Left Democrats for a Debate with Comrade Kamala Harris,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

“It will be Broadcast Live on ABC, by far the nastiest and most unfair newscaster in the business, on Tuesday, September 10th, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Rules will be the same as the last CNN Debate, which seemed to work out well for everyone except, perhaps, Crooked Joe Biden.”

The debate, set to take place in Philadelphia, will be held on September 10. Trump emphasized that the format will be strict, with candidates standing and prohibited from using notes or “cheat sheets.”

“The Debate will be ‘stand up,’ and Candidates cannot bring notes, or ‘cheat sheets.’ We have also been given assurance by ABC that this will be a ‘fair and equitable’ Debate, and that neither side will be given the questions in advance (No Donna Brazile!),” he continued.

Harris’ campaign has been vocal about their desire to see the microphone rule changed. Brian Fallon, senior communications adviser for Harris’ campaign, took to X to challenge Trump.

“Trump should reject his handlers’ attempts to muzzle him via a muted microphone. The VP is ready to debate Trump live and uncensored. Trump should stop hiding behind the mute button.”

Trump also mentioned that Harris declined an invitation for a debate scheduled for September 4th but left the door open for a potential change of mind.

“Harris would not agree to the Debate on September 4th, but that date will be held open in case she changes her mind or, Flip Flops, as she has done on every single one of her long held and cherished policy beliefs. A possible third Debate has not been agreed to by the Radical Left. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

The stage is set for what promises to be a contentious and highly anticipated debate.

Trump will be able to handle the debate. I don’t know that Kamala will be able to handle it, I don’t know what she has going on but she has problems. How would she ever be able to handle heads of other countries?
