Benjamin Charles Parker, 36, was found dead inside a vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington, on Sunday, one day after the bodies of five people were discovered at a rural property near Forest Grove, Oregon.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a vehicle fire early Saturday at the property, located about 25 miles west of Portland. Upon arrival, deputies uncovered a horrific scene: the remains of five deceased individuals and several dead domestic animals.

“Through their investigation, they believed that Parker was in Enumclaw, WA,” the Washington County Sheriff’s Office stated.

“Officers from the Enumclaw Police Department located Parker’s vehicle and found him deceased inside. It is believed he died by suicide.”

The Enumclaw Police Department reported the body was discovered behind a Safeway grocery store. Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community, though the connection between Parker and the victims remains under investigation.

Detective Shannon Wilde from the sheriff’s office emphasized the magnitude of the case. “Any time you have one person deceased, let alone five, that’s a logistical challenge,” she said, noting the complexity of processing such an extensive crime scene.

Investigators have not yet released the identities, ages, or genders of the victims, nor have they disclosed how the individuals died. Authorities also have not specified what types of domestic animals were found dead at the property. While detectives believe the killings were not random, they have not publicly described Parker’s connection to the victims or established a motive.

Sheriff Caprice Massey, who has served in law enforcement for over two decades, described the investigation as unprecedented in scope and complexity.

“I will say that in my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex involving this type of an investigation,” she said.

Sheriff Massey has urged anyone with knowledge of the property or its occupants to come forward with information. A dozen law enforcement agencies have joined forces to assist in the ongoing investigation as detectives work to identify the victims and establish a timeline of events.
