WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Former President Donald Trump slammed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, calling him ‘ungrateful, according to a report from The Washington Post.
  • Trump endorsed DeSantis in the 2018 gubernatorial campaign and reportedly told his advisers: “I made him.”
  • WaPo also reported that the two men haven’t spoken in months,

Former President Donald Trump had a major role in Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political rise. Trump has vigorously endorsed and campaigned for DeSantis’ gubernatorial bid in 2018.

Though neither Trump nor DeSantis has officially announced a 2024 presidential bid, the one-time allies have grown distant. Sources familiar with the two politicians’ interactions told The Washington Post the men haven’t spoken in months.

The former president has been quoted saying, DeSantis would make a good Vice President in 2024. But, amid rumors that they will soon launch competing campaigns, Trump now slams the governor he once referred to as his “great friend.”

According to The Washington Post, Trump privately called DeSantis ungrateful” for his 2018 endorsement.

“I made him,” Trump allegedly told his aides while tracking DeSantis’ public appearances and polling numbers, The Washington Post reported.

Trump and DeSantis are expected to be frontrunners in the upcoming race.

“I don’t understand what happened here,” Trump said of DeSantis’ diminishing support. “I don’t understand why he doesn’t appreciate me more.”

Trump has previously criticized DeSantis for his “dull personality.”

In recent months, DeSantis has taken steps to distinguish himself from Trump on the campaign trail. But the governor hasn’t explicitly criticized the former president. His recent action to fly migrants to Martha’s Vineyard sent Trump into a rage, according to a report from Rolling Stone. Political analysts argue that DeSantis was taking the spotlight off of Trump and furthering their rivalry.

This year, DeSantis has out-fundraised Trump to the tune of $43 million, according to data collected by OpenSecrets. Recent polls also suggest DeSantis has an advantage over the former president in a hypothetical primary match-up in 2024.

Per The Washington Post, Trump has asked some of his political donors to stop boosting DeSantis, saying that the governor could be a potential 2024 rival.

Nothing more pathetic than the never-ending lies which this fake news media and others ,publish in behalf of this administration of thieves.

WaPo stories need factchecks by IRE because they are fabricated and biased anti-Trump and anti-conservative. WaPo is no longer like the days of “All the President’s Men.” Now it’s merely PR for Democrat Socialists.
