Cuomo Eyes Comeback Amidst Political Controversies

Clear Facts
- Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo regrets resigning from his position in 2021.
- Cuomo resigned after facing accusations of sexual harassment, which he claims were politically motivated.
- Cuomo is currently leading in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor despite past controversies.
In a recent interview, Andrew Cuomo, the former Democratic Governor of New York, expressed regret over his decision to resign in 2021. Cuomo, who is now running in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor, revealed that if given another chance, he would have chosen to remain in office.
“If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t have resigned,” Cuomo stated. He explained that at the time, he believed his presence would have been a distraction to the government’s operations, potentially leading to impeachment proceedings. Reflecting on the past few years, he questioned, “What has really been done in the last four years, anyway, right?”
Cuomo stepped down in disgrace in August 2021 following accusations of sexual harassment from multiple women. He has consistently denied these allegations, labeling them as politically motivated attacks.
“Maybe I could have accelerated this whole process and it wouldn’t have taken four years,” Cuomo remarked, suggesting that a more expedited legal process could have resolved the issues sooner. “But in retrospect, I wouldn’t have resigned.”
At the time of his resignation, Cuomo believed that staying in office would disrupt the government’s ability to function effectively. “I thought it would have been too much of a distraction and hurt the great functioning of government,” he added.
Cuomo’s tenure was also marred by controversy over his administration’s handling of COVID-19 in nursing homes. A directive from his Department of Health in March 2020 led to the deaths of at least 4,000 nursing home residents.
Despite these controversies, Cuomo remains a strong contender in the 2025 New York City mayoral race, with several surveys showing him leading the field. However, his campaign team has not responded to requests for comment regarding his recent statements.

If you look at the voting results for NY, the only way Cuomo and Hochul were elected was the NYC, Buffalo and maybe Rochester/Syracuse vote. The rest of the state showed red. It’s not ALL NY’ers voting these idiots into office. “Cuomo currently leading in the Democratic primary for NYC mayor”………what’s that say about NYC?

Totally agree that someone found to have committed sexual assault should be in jail and not able to hold political office. Clearly, you must not be a Trump supporter.
