Ex-Dem Funder Says Sanders & AOC Are Hurting the Party

Clear Facts

  • John Morgan, a former Democrat megadonor, criticized Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s anti-oligarchy tour, suggesting it will backfire by energizing Trump supporters.
  • Democratic strategist James Carville advised Democrats to “roll over and play dead,” predicting Republicans will self-destruct.
  • Polls indicate a decline in Democratic favorability, with numbers dropping below 30%.

John Morgan, once a significant financial supporter of the Democrats, has voiced strong opinions on the recent political maneuvers by Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Speaking with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation, Morgan expressed his belief that the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, initiated by Sanders and featuring Ocasio-Cortez, will ultimately backfire.

Morgan argues that the presence of these two left-wing figures only serves to energize supporters of former President Donald Trump.

“It’s a mistake … I agree with [Democratic strategist James] Carville,” Morgan stated when asked about the tour’s focus on oligarchs. Carville suggested that Democrats should “roll over and play dead,” anticipating that Republicans would eventually collapse under their own weight.

Morgan elaborated on this perspective, saying, “Look, the new [Democratic National Committee] says this to me: They learned nothing from the last election. What they need to do, Chris, is they need to do nothing.” He further suggested that Democrats should allow the situation to unfold naturally, likening it to watching a “dumpster fire” from a distance.

The impact of Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez on the political landscape is further emphasized by Morgan’s observation: “See, AOC and Bernie [galvanize] MAGA because MAGA hates them and the thing MAGA loves the most other than what they love, they love watching them twisting and turning.”

Recent polling data underscores the challenges facing the Democratic Party. Surveys reveal that Democratic favorability has plummeted to below 30%. This decline in support is compounded by concerns over potential intra-party conflicts, such as the possibility of Ocasio-Cortez challenging Senator Chuck Schumer in a future primary.

Former Clinton pollster Mark Penn highlighted the potential ramifications of such a challenge, stating, “I don’t think she’s going to challenge Schumer, but if she does, I mean, already the Democratic ratings are down to 29%. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

In contrast, Trump’s approval ratings have reached a high of 47%. This suggests that while the Democrats grapple with internal divisions and declining favorability, Trump continues to maintain a strong base of support.

Wow. Here we have a communist sympathizer and an out-of-work bartender wanting to lead their party to victory.
With a radical platform of abortion, trans sports, sanctuary cities, wide open borders…et al, their leadership
should send the dem party to the dung heap of political history for good.(Let’s hope they take over!)
