- A spokesperson for Winfrey confirmed her recovery, stating that she received IV treatment for dehydration and is currently recuperating.
Gayle King, a well-respected journalist and close friend of media legend Oprah Winfrey, shared information about the recent health concerns surrounding Winfrey. It seems that the celebrated talk show host was admitted to the hospital due to a severe episode of stomach flu.
Winfrey had been set to make an appearance on CBS Mornings, a show hosted by King. Unfortunately, the visit was canceled after Winfrey was hospitalized.
King shared, “She had some kind of stomach thing — stomach flu — stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t get too graphic. Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, had to get an IV, it was a very serious thing.”
In addition to King’s revelation, a spokesperson for Winfrey also confirmed that Winfrey was “recovering following a stomach flu and received an IV due to dehydration at the recommendation of her doctor.”
Moreover, the spokesperson reassured fans by stating, “She is resting and feeling better every day.”
Winfrey’s hospitalization interrupted her plans of featuring author David Wroblewski and his book, Familiaris, the most recent selection for her book club, on her show.
“I wanted to make it clear that [the book] matters to her and it really bothered her that she couldn’t be here today. She so, so loved this book,” expressed King on her show, also indicating that Winfrey is expected to make a full recovery and return to her public appearances in the near future.
King added, “[I hope] she’s not mad at me for sharing that detail.”
