Former Michigan Representative Mike Rogers is making significant strides in his campaign for the 2026 Senate race by establishing a strong statewide ground operation. His campaign recently announced the formation of a leadership team with over 100 campaign co-chairs spread across Michigan’s counties. This strategic move aims to solidify Rogers’ position and fend off any potential primary challengers.

Rogers, who narrowly lost to Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin in the previous election, is the most prominent candidate in the race for the seat being vacated by retiring Senator Gary Peters. His campaign has attracted notable endorsements, including support from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso. Additionally, a Senate GOP leadership-aligned super PAC is backing his bid.

“Our team is stronger than ever and only picking up steam,” Rogers stated, emphasizing the importance of his campaign leaders in spreading his message and mobilizing voters across the state.

Rogers is determined to engage voters who supported Trump but did not vote for down-ballot candidates in the last election. Despite being outrun by the president by about 100,000 votes, Rogers believes his campaign can win Michigan this time around. “We’re not going to find ourselves in that same position,” Rogers remarked, expressing confidence in his campaign’s strategy.

Meanwhile, Republican Michigan Representative Bill Huizenga is contemplating a primary challenge against Rogers. Despite the pressure from national Republican groups and the Trump White House to remain in the House, Huizenga is exploring his options.

A May poll from the Detroit Regional Chamber showed Rogers leading Huizenga by approximately 45 points in a hypothetical primary matchup. Additionally, Rogers performed better against Democratic candidates than Huizenga in head-to-head matchups, further solidifying his standing.

Rogers, who previously chaired the House Intelligence Committee, has also called for a federal investigation into suspected Chinese espionage at the University of Michigan.

“Mike Rogers is all in for Michigan, and we’re proud to be all in for him,” said 13th District GOP Chairwoman Alexandria Taylor, underscoring the campaign’s commitment to rebuilding Michigan’s communities.
