South Carolina’s Republican Representative, Nancy Mace, is considering a gubernatorial bid for the 2026 election. She revealed that a decision could be forthcoming soon.

“We’ll make a decision I hope pretty soon. I’m thinking about it and praying about it,” Mace stated, highlighting the urgency of the matter.

She expressed frustration with the state’s justice system, particularly in relation to South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson’s inaction on prosecuting sex crimes. Mace has been vocal about her concerns, especially after alleging that her ex-fiancé recorded videos of her and other women without consent.

“The system is so broken there I might be forced to run,” she said, pointing to the backlog of serious criminal cases and the lack of accountability for offenders.

Mace has been outspoken about the rise of illegal immigration and the implications it has for South Carolina. She criticized former Charleston County Sheriff Kristin Graziano for not cooperating with ICE, which she claims allowed dangerous individuals to remain free.

“We had a sanctuary sheriff last year, in Charleston County, that was letting illegals out who are rapists, murderers, and pedophiles because she wouldn’t work with ICE,” Mace explained.

Her commitment to addressing these issues is evident, as she sent a letter to the Oversight Committee demanding documentation of the sheriff’s office’s actions.

Mace’s concerns extend beyond state borders, as she commented on the growing tensions in the Middle East. She emphasized the importance of supporting Israel while maintaining a balance between deterrence and diplomacy with Iran.

“Number one, no one wants war. Ok, no one wants war, but at the same time, no one wants Iran to have nuclear warheads because we know they will use them,” she asserted.

Domestically, Mace has also been involved in political debates, challenging figures like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz during a congressional Oversight hearing. She questioned him on fundamental issues, such as defining what a woman is, which left him seemingly unprepared.

Reflecting on the broader political climate, Mace condemned the violence following a tragic shooting in Minnesota, urging for a cessation of political violence.

“It’s unfortunate that Governor Walz tried to make it political early on,” she remarked, emphasizing the need for unity and prayer for those affected.

If she decides to run for governor, Mace plans to focus on tax reform, specifically targeting the state’s high income tax. “I might be forced to remove the highest state income tax in the Southeast,” she mentioned, hinting at her potential campaign platform.

As Mace weighs her options, her track record and outspoken nature suggest that she could bring significant changes to South Carolina’s political landscape.
