Schumer’s Surrender: Democrat Leader Bows to Socialist Takeover

Clear Facts
- Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer endorsed Graham Platner for Senate after his preferred candidate, Maine Governor Janet Mills, suspended her campaign trailing by 40 points
- Platner has a documented history of antisemitic associations, including wearing SS imagery and praising conspiracy theorists who blame Israel for JFK’s assassination
- Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez leads Schumer by 21 points in hypothetical primary polling, threatening his political future as the party shifts dramatically leftward
The Democratic Party’s civil war has ended with a whimper, not a bang. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer just handed the keys to his political empire to the very forces that spent years calling for his removal.
By endorsing Graham Platner’s Senate campaign in Maine, Schumer has formally surrendered to the socialist faction that has steadily commandeered the Democratic Party over the past decade. The capitulation came swiftly after Governor Janet Mills—Schumer’s handpicked candidate—suspended her campaign Thursday, trailing Platner by nearly 40 points in the polls.
We think that Janet Mills is the best candidate to retire Susan Collins,
Schumer had declared at a press conference last fall.
Democratic primary voters disagreed. By February, the more moderate Mills had been buried in Platner’s polling avalanche. Schumer proved unwilling to close the financial gap between their campaigns, despite his public insistence that Mills would prevail.
The irony is almost too perfect: Schumer is now backing the same candidate who urged Americans last November to call their senators and tell them that Chuck Schumer can no longer be leader.
Schumer and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee chairwoman Kirsten Gillibrand rushed to embrace Platner within hours of Mills’s withdrawal.
Democrats are dedicated to fighting back against the chaos of the Trump administration by defeating the Republicans who enable his harmful agenda and that includes Susan Collins,
they declared in a joint statement. Senator Collins has never been more vulnerable and we will work with the presumptive Democratic nominee Graham Platner to defeat her.
Our North Star is winning a Democratic Senate majority,
they explained.
Apparently, it doesn’t matter who comprises that majority.
Until recently, Platner campaigned across Maine wearing clothing emblazoned with SS Totenkopf imagery. In February, he retweeted Holocaust denier and antisemitic conspiracy theorist Stew Peters. Platner claimed ignorance in both instances.
That defense crumbled when reports surfaced that a month earlier, he had told another antisemitic conspiracy theorist—one who blames Israel for President Kennedy’s assassination—that he was a longtime fan.
Left-wing streamer Hasan Piker, himself no friend of American patriotism, put it bluntly: He [Platner] was pro-Hamas, okay? He was giving Hamas credit in 2014. Okay, what more do you f*cking want?
Democratic primary voters have made their preferences crystal clear: they want aggressive anti-Western radicalism in its most resentful form. They want politicians who view America and Israel as the chief sources of evil in the world. And they’re willing to overlook any unsavory behavior to get it.
It’s public knowledge that when Platner isn’t consorting with antisemitic conspiracy theorists, he’s on Reddit advising women concerned about sexual assault to take some responsibility for themselves and not get so f*cked up they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to.
For Democratic primary voters, the former apparently compensates for the latter.
Schumer himself may soon become the next casualty of his party’s radical transformation. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who opposes any military aid to Israel including defensive systems like Iron Dome, would be an overwhelming favorite if she challenges Schumer in New York. One poll from last spring showed the far-Left congresswoman beginning such a contest with a 21-point lead.
Schumer better hope Ocasio-Cortez sets her sights on the White House in 2028, because liberal New Yorkers increasingly favor the woman who has accused America of enabling genocide for supporting Israel after the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks.
It would be quite an ironic end for someone who styles himself a shomer—a “guardian” of the Jewish people.
Schumer bears substantial responsibility for his predicament. For years he watched his colleagues radicalize and, instead of standing firm, he moved with them. Immigration enforcement became unjust, border walls became racist, dictators like Maduro and Khamenei became Trump’s victims, Supreme Court decisions against Democratic interests became evidence of corruption.
The leftist agenda has no final destination, no principles to preserve. There is only capital-P Progress—an ever-shifting goalpost driven by ego and self-righteousness, not genuine principle.
Schumer didn’t just allow these lies to take root; he parroted them for political survival and ostracized those who dared speak truth. Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, a liberal vilified by the far-Left for supporting Israel and maintaining traditional Democratic views on border security, laughed when asked Wednesday about his relationship with other caucus members.
I’m not necessarily the popular guy,
he conceded.
It apparently never occurred to Schumer that he was feeding a monster certain to devour him eventually. Perhaps his humiliation in Maine has finally opened his eyes.
Now he has no choice but to surrender and welcome his radical new overlords.
It’s Graham Platner’s party now. And despite his desperate attempts at appeasement, Chuck Schumer isn’t even on the guest list.
