South Korea fires warning shots after North Korea sends drones over border [Video]

- North Korea on Monday sent drones over South Korea’s airspace for the first time in five years escalating fresh tensions.
- South Korea fired warning shots and scrambled fighter jets across the border with the North.
- South Korea’s attack helicopters fired a combined 100 rounds but it wasn’t immediately reported if the North Korean drones were shot down.
The South Korean military fired warning shots and scrambled aircraft after North Korean drones entered its airspace for the first time in five years on Monday, the Associated Press reported. This comes days after the North test-launched two ballistic missiles.
South Korea’s Defense Ministry said several North Korean drones were detected in its territory after crossing the inter-Korean border on Monday morning, prompting broadcast warnings from the South’s military. South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported the drones were spotted flying in Gimpo, Ganghwa Island and Paju, which led to temporary suspensions of civilian flights.
Warning shots were fired by South Korea before the country launched fighter jets and attack helicopters to shoot down the drones. It was not immediately clear if the drones were shot down or not.
A KA-1 light attack aircraft was also deployed in response, but it crashed in Hoengseong County, about 140 kilometers east of Seoul, at 11:39 a.m., according to the Yonhap News Agency. Both of the pilots escaped safely.
Monday’s move marked the first time North Korean drones entered South Korean airspace since 2017, when a drone believed to belong to the North was found crashed in South Korea. South Korean military officials said at the time that the drone photographed a U.S. missile defense system in South Korea.
North Korea has bragged about its hefty drone program, and South Korean officials confirmed the country does have around 300 drones.
In 2014, several suspected North Korean drones were found south of the border, posing a potential security threat even though experts said they were “low-tech.
Last Friday, North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern waters in protest of South Korean-U.S. joint air drills. The country recently said it views the drills as an “invasion rehearsal.”
In 2022, North Korea has conducted an “unprecedented number” of missile tests in what experts believe is an attempt to improve weapons and pressure rivals in future negotiations.
In recent weeks, the North also claimed to have performed major tests needed to acquire its first spy satellite and a more mobile intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the U.S. mainland.

Unlike dictator-favoring ex-president Trump, the Biden administration is alert to all provocations by communist and authoritarian nations of us and our allies.
Like Taiwan, Ukraine and the South China Sea islands and contiguous area, America doesn’t cotton to incursions by enemy and competitor nations. Be advised North Korea, China and Russia. Throw in Iran if you want because of their supplying Russia with deadly drones that harm our ally in southwest Europe.

Seriously, hopefully you’re smarter than your post indicates.
The thirty men killed by a terrorist bomb near the airport was NOT done by the Taliban who were helping with airport security. Further, it was the traitor Trump who signed the surrender agreement with the Taliban, and even suggested signing the papers at camp David. Biden to his credit was able to extend the time table for withdrawal and allowed the US to save hundreds of life’s. One other point which you are either ignorant of, or intentionally ignoring, Trump pulled all but 2,500 service men out of Afghanistan as part of his surrender. This included ALL the techs which were servicing the Afghan equipment. This was the primary reason the Afghan Army folded so quickly. BTW, other than equipment given to the Afghan Army, all US equipment not removed was rendered inoperable. Suggest you do your homework before posting more MAGA bullshit.

No one provoked Trump twice because he made it very clear what would happen if they did. David if you could put together a coherent sentence so we could understand what the hell you said, I might be be able to agree with you. From what I inferred from your statement is that Trump broke many laws of the constitution then I would like to know what they were. Now if you are talking about Biden then that’s another story because I don’t think you could list all the laws that he has broken on one piece of paper and the media ignores all of them so that the general public wont know about it. Not enough information. One doesn’t know if these drones were armed, or just surveillance drones. The little fat man from N.Korea maybe testing the waters. Still not a good idea to invade an other countries airspace. One might suppose, since N. Korea claims to have a hefty drone program, they might be supplying Russia with drones as well as Iran. The little fat man should pay more attention to feeding is starving population, than building spy satellites or ICBMS to reach the shores of the U.S. The Axis of evil would like it no better than to get the U.S. involved on three fronts at the same time, Korea, Taiwan, and Ukraine.
