Trump says Putin’s invasion strategy is “genius” and “savvy”

Former President Donald Trump praised Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, calling the justification for invading Ukraine “genius.”
In an interview on the “Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show,” Trump said that Putin’s recognition of two breakaway territories in eastern Ukraine — Donetsk and Luhansk — was a smart move.
“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful,” Trump said when asked about the news. “I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s going to go in and be a peacekeeper.”
In the podcast interview, Trump claimed that he had a better relationship with Putin than President Joe Biden does. He added that it’s the reason Putin chose to invade Ukraine now rather than during his term.
“I knew Putin very well. I got along with him great. He liked me. I liked him,” Trump said.
Asked what went wrong with respect to Ukraine, Trump blames the “rigged election.” He added that an invasion “never would have happened… Had I been in office, not even thinkable.”
Trump also said that the US should use military force similar to that used by Russia to secure the US-Mexico border.
“We could use that on our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen,” Trump said. “They’re gonna keep peace all right. No, but think of it. Here’s a guy who’s very savvy … I know him very well — very, very well.”
When asked about whether the US should involve the military in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump again brought up the US-Mexico border.
“I’d rather see them send soldiers to our southern border,” he said, referring to US troops. “I don’t like the idea he’s sending a small number of troops.”
Trump also claimed that the US has not responded forcefully enough to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“It’s a joke compared to what the other side does. You know, he sends 3,000 troops… What’s that going to do except get in trouble?” Trump said. “No, I would like to see our southern border protected…”
Trump also said that he used to discuss Ukraine with Putin when he was president.
“I knew that he always wanted Ukraine. I used to talk to him about it. I said, ‘You can’t do it. You’re not going to do it.’ But I could see that he wanted it. I used to ask him. We used to talk about it at length,” Trump revealed.

Donald, this is not the time to praise Putin. Your opinions of Putin’s actions are not helpful. You were a great President, but, sir, as unfortunate as it is, you are not in charge at this time. Work your magic behind the scenes…not in front of the cameras or with the Media.

I don’t think it was praise. He was just stating a fact that Putin knew exactly what he wanted and executed it with the whole world watching. What a distraction from the criminal activity and lawlessness happening here.

A half hour before reading past Predident Trump’s response to Putin’s military actions in Ukraine, I had written something similar to a friend. Putin will pull back after ge has made his point and shown the current impotence of theUS!

This is exactly why every legal effort against Trump currently underway should IMMEDIATELY be taken to ; no further delays from Trump and his attorneys should be allowed. We, all Americans , have waited far too long for this scoundrel and con-man to brought to justice. The picture at the beginning of this article tells the story; at that meeting Trump completely caved in Putin. This statement by itself shows exactly how little Trump cares for anyone but himself. America first? Putin is a genius for bringing us to the brink of World War III????This may be the unbalanced, mentally sick statement that any American president has ever made. I am absolutely and utterably ashamed that Trump is allowed to claim that he is American.
