White House Proposes Major Cuts to Public Broadcasting

Clear Facts
- The White House has proposed a $9.4 billion rescissions package to Congress, targeting cuts in public broadcasting and foreign aid.
- The package includes a $1.1 billion reduction in funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supports NPR and PBS.
- Republicans can pass the rescissions package with a simple majority in both the House and Senate.
In a significant move, the White House has introduced a $9.4 billion rescissions package to Congress. This proposal is partly designed to formalize efforts by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The House Oversight Committee confirmed the receipt of this package, noting the substantial cuts proposed.
“The White House just sent Congress a $9.4B rescissions package—including $1.1B in CUTS to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds NPR and PBS,” the statement read. It further highlighted that these outlets “ATTACK the America First agenda on the taxpayers’ dime.”
This development follows an announcement by Russell Vought, Director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, who indicated that the package would be sent to Congress this week.
House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed his readiness to act on this measure.
“When the White House sends its rescission package to the House, we will act quickly by passing legislation to codify the cuts,” he stated.
The rescissions package not only targets public broadcasting but also proposes an $8.3 billion reduction in foreign aid funding, including cuts to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
This move could be advanced by Republican lawmakers without the need for Democratic support, as the package requires only a simple majority in both legislative chambers.
Lawmakers have a 45-day window to respond to the proposal, which aims to retract previously allocated funds.
Despite Elon Musk’s departure from DOGE, the agency is expected to remain operational until July 4, 2026, ensuring continued efforts in government efficiency.

After hearing others discuss how much money they could make online, I made the decision to do some research. It was all true, and it has changed my life in every way..

Let me explain something many people are wondering. How can members of Congress with an annual salary of about $200,000 become millionaires within one term ?? I have a pretty reasonable answer. Our government has more than one funding program for many recipients. Let’s just use USAID as the perfect example. The House is the keeper of the purse. The House proposes funding for USAID’s gifting programs in the tens of billions of dollars for foreign countries. Why we provide this funding in the first place baffles me. But the countries that receive this money either have an American based advisor or a local person advisor from the country who requests the money and sees to it that the money gets to the country. After that and because many countries reject the claims of how much money they actually received, what could have happened to the reported discrepancy ?? I propose that the person handling the transfer of funds is actually a corrupt crook. They most likely take some of the money for themselves even though they already have a salary. Then to thank the members of Congress responsible for approving the funds the members of Congress are given “kickbacks”. Once the money is laundered through the recipient country it becomes totally untraceable. The kickbacks prime the pump for the next request for funds and on and on. And everyone is happy except the U.S. taxpayers. So there needs to be an investigatory group of accountants with subpoena powers to track the money back to the members of Congress. That is how they become millionaires on a $200K annual salary. Can the IRS be trusted to find the truth ?? I would not bet on it. After all they are part of the Deep State too. I could see building a team of forensic accountants taken from the private sector like DOGE was and given extreme authority to shake every bush in the forest to find the truth. Other than pure criminal activity Congress cannot become millionaires any other way.

It’s not up to the IRS to investigate that. That is the AG’s office, including the FBI. IRS is just concerned about your paying taxes in the money you earn, legal or illegal. I recently saw an article about President Biden and his SS. It sounded more like a report on SS than a news article, but they mentioned his reported income for SS checks. When he was VP he claimed like $400k in joint income and the years after he left office he claimed in excess of $10 million. The point of the article was that his SS check basically didn’t change due to the increased income bc he was already getting the maximum. It was just sticking the change in income after he left the VP office. And maybe it isn’t that strange bc Obama’s net worth was over $75 million right after he let office. The Clinton’s was like $100 million yo their trust or whatever. Who knows, but many do get wealthy while in office. Look at Nancy Pelosi. Her husband like quadrupled their wealth investing in stocks and things that Nancy had a big voice in. I wonder if that still going on. I think it’s a problem if politicians are enriching themselves that much. Some that come in wealth put their wealth in blind trusts or turn it over to others which helps some for sure.
