Clear Facts

  • Danika Troy, 14, was allegedly lured into the woods and murdered by two teenagers in Florida.
  • Both suspects, aged 14 and 16, face first-degree premeditated murder charges and are in custody.
  • The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the true motive behind the killing.

Danika Troy’s mother, Ashley Troy, believes her daughter was lured into the woods by one of the suspects, Gabriel Williams, who she says pretended to have romantic interest. Ashley said Danika trusted Williams, leading to the tragic ambush that took her life.

“That’s how she was lured,” she said.

Police identified Williams and another teen, Kimahri Blevins, as suspects and quickly took them into custody. Both are now charged with first-degree premeditated murder.

Danika was reported missing on December 1, and her body was discovered the next day in a wooded area in Pace, Florida. Investigators reported she had been shot multiple times and set on fire.

Ashley continues to seek answers, sharing, “I still need answers. I’m just left asking why.” She added, “She just wanted to be in love.” Ashley firmly rejected claims the tragedy resulted from a social media dispute.

“What those boys said is an excuse,” she told reporters.

The suspects, who reportedly knew Danika from school, remain in custody without bond. Authorities say they had prior interactions with law enforcement but details are withheld due to their ages.

Sheriff Bob Johnson noted that the suspects’ own explanations did not align with the forensic evidence.

“This is where it gets really horrific,” Johnson stated, explaining that Williams allegedly stole his mother’s handgun before killing Danika. “It’s bad enough you kill a 14-year-old. You’re 14. You’re 16. Shoot her multiple times, and then they set her on fire.” Johnson said the motive remains unclear and emphasized the seriousness of the crime. “If you do an adult crime, you gotta do adult time,” he said.

Ashley wants full accountability and justice for her daughter. She insists that anything short of prosecution to the full extent of the law would be unacceptable.
