Clear Facts

  • Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw lost primary to State Rep. Steve Toth 56% to 40% with 88% votes in.
  • Toth backed by Sen. Ted Cruz; Crenshaw only Texas GOP incumbent without Trump endorsement.
  • First congressional incumbent defeated in 2026 midterms; Toth wins safe GOP district general election.

Conservative voters rejected Crenshaw, a former SEAL criticized for Ukraine aid support and clashes with allies like Tucker Carlson.

Crenshaw threatened Carlson on video, saying extreme words amid broader GOP tensions.

“No, we’ve talked a lot on Twitter. If I ever meet him I’ll fucking kill him,” Crenshaw said.

“No, seriously, I’ll kill him. He’s the worst person I’ve ever met.”

Crenshaw also sparred with Sen. Tommy Tuberville over military policies post-Roe.

Toth, 65, pledged strong representation.

“Congressional District 2 voters want a representative in D.C. who will stand firm in his convictions, fight for his constituents, and follow through on his promises. I won’t let them down,” Toth stated.
