The NYPD has launched an intensive manhunt for a suspect accused of carrying out two deadly shootings in separate New York City boroughs within a matter of days. Jesus Acosta, 31, is wanted in connection with homicides that have left communities in Brooklyn and the Bronx reeling from senseless violence.

The most recent attack occurred around 12:16 a.m. Tuesday at 149 Grill & Deli located at 143 East 149th Street in the Bronx. According to police, a gunman approached a 33-year-old man inside the establishment and opened fire without warning, striking the victim multiple times in the chest.

After the shooting, the suspect forcibly took an undisclosed amount of cash from behind the register before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to Lincoln Hospital where he was initially listed in stable condition, but tragically died from his injuries later that day. Police have classified the case as a homicide.

This Bronx shooting came just two days after another deadly incident that authorities have now linked to Acosta. Shortly after midnight Sunday, officers responded to a 911 call about an assault in progress at 842 Rockaway Avenue in Brooklyn, identified as the location of American Best Wings & Pizza.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a 44-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and a 39-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. Both victims were rushed to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center.

The 44-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the 39-year-old man was listed in stable condition and is expected to survive his injuries.

The NYPD has released detailed information about the suspect to aid in his capture. Acosta is described as standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Distinctive identifying features include the word “Bronx” tattooed on his hand and the name “Bobby” tattooed on his left forearm. Police have released surveillance images of Acosta and are urging anyone who recognizes him to come forward immediately.

“Have you seen Jesus Acosta? He is wanted for the fatal shooting of a 44-year-old man on 8/23 inside 842 Rockaway Ave in Brooklyn and a robbery from 8/25 at 143 East 149 St in the Bronx,” the NYPD wrote on social media before confirming that the Bronx victim had also died from his injuries.

The string of violent crimes underscores ongoing concerns about public safety in America’s largest city. These back-to-back shootings have left three men dead and another wounded, with families and communities devastated by the sudden loss of life.

Law enforcement officials are treating the manhunt as a top priority and are working around the clock to locate Acosta before he can harm anyone else. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and authorities are warning the public not to approach him if spotted.

Anyone with information about Acosta’s whereabouts is urged to contact the NYPD immediately. The investigation remains active, and police are following all leads in their effort to bring the suspect into custody and deliver justice for the victims and their families.
