British actor and comedian Russell Brand was convicted by a London jury of rape and sexual assault involving four women. The court handed down its verdict after considering the testimony and evidence presented during the trial.

Following the conviction, Brand was taken into custody without delay. Authorities moved swiftly to detain the 49-year-old entertainer at the conclusion of proceedings.

“The jury has spoken,” the presiding judge stated in open court. “The defendant will be remanded in custody pending sentencing.”

The prosecution presented evidence from four separate women who alleged sexual misconduct by Brand over several years. Jurors found the testimony credible and returned guilty verdicts on all charges.

Brand now faces the possibility of life in prison. Sentencing is expected to occur within the coming weeks.

“Justice has been served,” a spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said. “The victims have been heard and the law has taken its course.”

The conviction marks a dramatic fall for the once-popular comedian who built a career on provocative humor and outspoken commentary. Brand’s legal troubles began after allegations surfaced publicly in 2023.

“I maintain my innocence,” Brand said in a statement released after his arrest. “I have always denied these allegations and will continue to do so.”

The case has drawn significant attention in Britain, where sexual offense convictions carry serious consequences. Prosecutors emphasized the gravity of the charges and the strength of the evidence presented to the jury.
