Clear Facts

  • Transgender Representative Sarah McBride (D-DE) acknowledged that President Donald Trump’s “Kamala is for they/them” campaign ad effectively resonated with voters during the 2024 election.
  • McBride stated Democrat leadership “remained silent” instead of countering the messaging, contributing to the ad’s impact.
  • The admission reveals internal Democrat recognition that their lack of response on cultural issues allowed Trump to define the debate.

Transgender Representative Sarah McBride (D-DE) has admitted what many political observers already knew: President Donald Trump’s straightforward campaign messaging on gender ideology struck a chord with American voters. McBride specifically pointed to the “Kamala is for they/them” ad as a powerful example of effective political communication that Democrats failed to counter.

The Delaware lawmaker’s candid assessment highlights a critical failure in the Democrat campaign strategy. Rather than addressing concerns about radical gender policies head-on, party leadership chose to ignore the issue entirely, hoping it would fade from public consciousness.

Trump’s advertisement effectively contrasted his focus on traditional American priorities with the cultural radicalism that has become synonymous with the modern Democrat Party. The simple, direct messaging proved far more effective than the complex ideological positions Democrats struggled to defend.

McBride’s acknowledgment that her party “remained silent” exposes the strategic vacuum at the heart of the Democrat campaign. When faced with substantive criticism of their extreme positions on biological sex and gender, party leaders apparently calculated that silence was their best option.

This admission comes as many Democrats continue soul-searching after their 2024 electoral losses. The party’s embrace of fringe cultural positions—from men competing in women’s sports to radical school curriculum changes—created vulnerabilities that Trump’s campaign exploited with surgical precision.

The “Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you” messaging distilled complex cultural debates into terms everyday Americans could immediately understand. It represented a clear choice between policies focused on ideological experiments and those centered on the concerns of ordinary citizens.

Political analysts have noted that the ad’s effectiveness stemmed from its grounding in observable reality. Democrats’ support for policies allowing biological males in women’s spaces and promoting gender ideology in schools gave the Trump campaign ample material for contrast.

McBride’s frank assessment may signal growing recognition within the Democrat Party that their cultural positions have become electoral liabilities. However, with activists demanding ever-more-radical stances on gender issues, party leaders face difficult choices about their future direction.

The silence McBride describes wasn’t accidental—it reflected Democrats’ awareness that defending their actual positions would alienate moderate voters. By refusing to engage, they hoped to avoid highlighting just how far left the party has moved on cultural issues.

President Trump’s ability to distill complex cultural debates into memorable, effective messaging proved crucial to connecting with voters concerned about common sense and traditional values. The ad demonstrated how clarity and directness can overcome well-funded opposition campaigns.
