Hypocrisy in politics reveals selective outrage from both sides

Published

on

Clear Facts

  • Erick Erickson publicly criticized both Democrats and Republicans for fielding flawed candidates and demanding blind loyalty from voters.
  • Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner in Maine faced allegations including a Nazi tattoo and a former girlfriend’s rape claim before party support collapsed.
  • Republican Congressman Chuck Edwards resigned after the House Ethics Committee recommended censure over lavish gifts and harassment claims toward female staffers.

Both parties are increasingly defined by selective outrage rather than consistent standards of accountability. When scandals surface, the response depends less on the facts than on the letter after the candidate’s name.

“Both sides serve up a crap sandwich of a candidate, point across the aisle at the other side’s crap sandwich, and insist you have to eat theirs because the other one is worse.”

The same pattern repeats across the country. Democratic candidates like Abdul El-Sayed and Darializa Avila Chevalier have drawn scrutiny for past statements and actions that would draw instant condemnation if they carried an R.

“Cycle after cycle,” Erickson says, “we never get better candidates. We get more corrupt and more terrible ones, and we are told once again that we must vote for them or the republic will fall… The doomsday prophecies are simply how the parties dupe voters into holding their noses for their preferred perversions.”

Independent voters remain the key battleground. Many pay little attention to daily political theater until they reach the ballot box, and they are quick to punish the party in power when prices rise and trust falls.

“They tend to be very fickle. They read, watch, and listen to the news less than partisans. They tend to get buyer’s remorse and turn on whoever they voted for two years earlier.”

The result is a political culture that rewards division over principle. Voters who value character over party labels may simply stay home, leaving turnout to the most motivated activists on each side.

The Democrats may not be perfect but we need to get a Democratic majority in the house and senate to stop Trump’s crazy, evil, destructive actions! The Republicans won’t stand up to him! I am a proud Democrat even though they are not perfect.

What crazy, evil destructive actions ? You mean joe and the ho’s wide open border? Killing babies? Cutting children’s genitalia? Yea, Trumps not perfect. But I’d rather him call you sick perverts pencil neck and Pocahontas than the shit the left pulls.
