Karine Jean-Pierre, once the face of the White House press briefings, has stirred the political waters by announcing her departure from the Democratic Party. Her upcoming book, “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,” is set to be released in October 2025. This book promises to delve into her experiences within what she describes as a “broken” Biden administration and the sense of “betrayal” she felt from the Democratic Party.
The announcement has not gone unnoticed among her former colleagues, who are expressing significant discontent. Group chats among former White House staffers have reportedly been buzzing with reactions, with many viewing her move as a mere “grift.”
“She made a joke about being an independent last year and now it’s a book. All ideas are monetary — even the dumb ones,” a former staffer shared.
Jean-Pierre’s shift in political affiliation and her forthcoming book have sparked a wave of criticism. Some former officials speculate that her decision might be linked to a missed opportunity to co-host on a popular talk show, a position she had hoped to secure after her tenure at the White House.
“Everyone thinks this is a grift,” a former official remarked regarding Jean-Pierre’s book project.
Symone D. Sanders Townsend, a co-host on a news network, highlighted the reactivation of group chats among former colleagues, tweeting, “A lot of group chats were revived today.”
In a video explaining her decision, Jean-Pierre cited the current climate of “misinformation, disinformation, the regressiveness of social policy” as reasons for following her own “compass.”
During her time in the Biden administration, Jean-Pierre was a staunch defender of the president, often countering criticisms about his fitness and decisively labeling videos of him as “cheap fakes.”
“SHE was the public face telling us all that this White House was on track and that Biden was amazing. And now she doesn’t even want to be a Democrat????” a former Biden White House official expressed.
The official further criticized Jean-Pierre’s attempt to position herself as a unifying figure, stating, “She’s making herself the middle ground here when Republicans hate her. She’s not in any position to be a connector of our two-party system and assuming she could be is just ego.”

Where do the democrats get these misfits for the press secretary position? The last two were so lame that you couldn’t trust them if they said “good morning”.
