WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • The migrant crisis in New York City has been “very frustrating” for Mayor Eric Adams.
  • The mayor called on the Biden administration for help, as well as “a real decompression strategy.”
  • He said that the administration “should have stepped in” to coordinate migrant travel instead of letting Republican governors bus migrants.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has called on President Joe Biden’s administration again after a recent encounter with illegal migrants, who protested against being moved from free hotel rooms to a relief shelter. The Democrat called the entire situation “very frustrating.”

Democrat-led cities near the border have been attracting migrants due to their welfare programs and diverse communities. But the migrant influx has significantly increased recently after Republican governors such as Greg Abbott (R-Texas) and Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) started transporting migrants to Democrat-led cities.

Republicans have made the move to call attention to the migrant crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border, and as a protest to the Biden administration’s migrant policies.

Back in December, Adams declared a state of emergency and said that New York City doesn’t have the space to house migrants.

Late last month, Adams visited El Paso, Texas, where about 1,000 migrants enter daily. He said that he’s “extremely frustrated” after about 21,000 migrants were bussed to New York since last year without any coordination or plan.

Adams has repeatedly pleaded for the Biden administration to help and provide “a real decompression strategy.”

Adams suggested an appointment of a single coordinator for migrant travel, instead of allowing Republican governors to transport migrants wherever they choose to, a move that he criticized as political instead of humanitarian.

The mayor said that both Republican and Democrat governors have been “dumping” migrants on his city. “That is where the national government should have stepped in and said, ‘Wait a minute, let’s coordinate this effort.’”

When asked about the mayor’s request last week, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that the administration has been doing the work to help cities struggling with the influx of migrants, and will “continue to do the work.”

Abbott said that his state’s strategy to bus migrants has “successfully provided much-needed relief to our border communities overwhelmed by the historic influx of migrants caused by President Biden’s reckless open border policies.”

The Texas governor said that they will “continue defending against an invasion along the border” and keep adding “more sanctuary cities like Philadelphia as drop-off locations” until “the Biden Administration does its job and provides Texans and the American people with sustainable border security.”

And guess who’s paying for all this. The taxpayers, of course. The hard working people who are paying taxes so the crooked politicians can waste it on something that is illegal. These people are breaking the law by coming here illegally and should be deported. The people helping them, including the Biden Administration should be held accountable for helping them. This just shows utter stupidity by this Administration.
