In a significant escalation of tensions, President Trump addressed the nation to announce that the United States had conducted airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Standing alongside Vice President J. D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, President Trump assured the public of the operation’s success.

“I can report to the world that these strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated,” he stated.

The president further emphasized the necessity of these actions, citing Iran’s long history of hostility towards the United States and its allies.

“For 40 years, Iran has been saying, death to America, death to Israel. They have been killing our people, blowing off their arms, blowing off their legs, with roadside bombs. That was their specialty,” he continued.

Following the operation, President Trump confirmed that all U.S. planes had safely exited Iranian airspace. The mission was executed using the “bunker buster,” a powerful weapon designed to penetrate and destroy fortified facilities. The B-2 Spirit bombers, the only aircraft capable of deploying this weapon, were instrumental in the operation.

In a post on social media, Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, cautioning against any retaliatory actions. He stated that any attack on U.S. personnel would be met with “force far greater than what was witnessed tonight.”

In response to the strikes, the Iranian-backed Houthis issued a threat against Trump. Houthi political bureau member Hizam al-Assad posted a warning that “Trump must bear the consequences.”

The decision to strike came after a period of stalled negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. President Trump had initially given Iran 60 days to reach a deal with the United States. However, as the deadline passed without progress, Israel launched its own attacks, prompting the U.S. to follow suit.

Trump’s address also highlighted the broader implications of the strikes.

“There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than what we have witnessed over the last eight days,” he warned.

He concluded with a call for peace, urging Iran to make a deal to avoid further destruction.

“Remember, there are many targets left,” he cautioned. “Tonight’s was the most difficult of them all, by far, and perhaps the most lethal. But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill, and most of them can be taken out in a matter of minutes.”
