- White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Trump would veto a GOP-led immigration amnesty bill if it came to him.
- Leavitt emphasized that the administration does not support any proposal offering a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
- Republican Rep. Maria Salazar introduced the “Dignity Act,” which aims to provide a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants, garnering support from ten Republicans.
In a recent press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made it clear that President Donald Trump would not endorse a GOP-backed immigration amnesty bill. This statement came in response to a question regarding the administration’s position on the legislation.
The bill, introduced by Congresswoman Maria Salazar, aims to provide a path to citizenship for certain illegal immigrants. Leavitt responded by clarifying the administration’s firm stance against any amnesty-granting proposals.
“From my understanding, neither the White House nor the President has read through this legislation,” she stated. “But the president has made it very clear: he will not support amnesty for illegal aliens in any way.”
Despite some House Republicans rallying behind the effort, the administration remains focused on other legislative priorities. Leavitt mentioned, “We’ve been focused, of course, on the One Big, Beautiful Bill, which passed — another historic accomplishment of this president, in record time.”
Rep. Maria Salazar, who introduced the “Dignity Act,” made a direct appeal to President Trump on social media. She wrote, “Mr. President, only you have the skills and political courage to fix what others were too afraid to touch.”
Salazar’s message emphasized the potential impact of the legislation, stating, “The Dignity Act is your chance to make the best deal for our immigration system America has ever seen.”
In response to the ongoing discussions, President Trump reiterated his stance, saying, “There’s no amnesty. What we’re doing is we’re getting rid of criminals, but we are doing a work program.”
As the debate continues, it remains evident that the administration is not swayed by the proposed legislation, maintaining a firm position against amnesty.

This Maria Salazar is a total RHINO – what in the world is she doing to even propose such a bill? I wouldn’t be surprised if she got primaried if she is up for re-election.

Even don bacon of Nebraska supports amnesty for illegal trespassers and this shows why he keeps fighting against the Republican Party of Nebraska and many in Washington he does not understand what reality is for American people who are trying to get jobs but keep losing them to the illegals

There is a specific way to enter the USA and become a useful citizen. Go back to where you came from and then return, if you so desire, via the proper channels. The ILLEGALS DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT have any right to amnesty OF ANY SORT! By the very definition of ILLEGAL, these INVADERS are criminals and we have enough of our own homegrown criminals, we don’t need legalize a bunch more!
