Biden Braces for Haitian Migrant Surge Amid 2024 Reelection Bid

The Biden administration, known for its pro-migration stance, is preparing for a potential migrant exodus from Haiti amidst the island’s chaos. This comes at a time when Biden is preparing for his 2024 reelection campaign, and there are indications that migrants may be forcibly returned to their homeland.
“The driving conditions in Haiti could very well press more people [to migrate],” stated Rebecca Zimmerman, a senior Pentagon official responsible for homeland defense, during a March 12 House Armed Services Committee hearing. She further revealed that additional assistance has been approved for the Coast Guard.
Gen. Laura Richardson, commander of U. S. Southern Command, which is responsible for conducting homeland defense, echoed Zimmerman’s sentiments. “I think that we need to be postured appropriately for that,” she said. “I have put in a request for increased capability to do exactly that … we are ready if we need to deal with a mass migration.”
An email from border agents in Miami warns that federal officials may not attempt to return migrants who sail into U.S. coastal waters on small, sail-powered freighters. “The Coast Guard may not be stopping Haitian sail freighter[s],” the email stated. “They will just be escorting them into land [ports].”
The email further noted, “With the breakdown of the government in Haiti[,] repatriating Haitians may not be happening for the foreseeable future.”
The Biden administration, particularly border chief Alejandro Mayorkas, has demonstrated a capacity for toughness on migrants when it serves their interests. In September 2021, approximately 30,000 migrants crossed the border river into Del Rio, Texas, causing a crisis that negatively impacted Biden’s poll ratings. Mayorkas responded by sending over 20,000 Haitians back to the island.
However, Mayorkas is also known for his strong support for migrants and migration, regardless of the potential harm to American citizens or the migrants themselves. He has repeatedly expressed his belief in “equity” for migrants, arguing that they should have the same legal rights as U.S. citizens. In December 2022, Mayorkas granted “Temporary Legal Status” to an additional 110,000 Haitians who had entered the U.S. illegally since June 2021.
Despite public opposition to Mayorkas’ pro-migration policies, and the potential risk they pose to Biden’s reelection chances, the administration continues to push for increased migration. “At the moment, we have not yet seen large numbers [of migrants]—what we would characterize as a maritime mass migration,” Zimmerman told Rep. Matt Gaetz during the March 12 hearing.

Even with the English Channel & North Sea between and Continental Europe, we are still have a stream of illegal migrants stowing away on heavy goods lorries, private cars, Channel Tunnel trains and even coming across on rubber boats with our useless Government being unable to do ANYTHING about it!
