Boston police responded to a residence in the city’s Mattapan neighborhood Saturday afternoon after receiving reports of a deceased individual. Officers arrived at 25 Malta Street around 1:52 p.m., where they discovered a person who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Boston Police Homicide Unit has assumed control of the investigation into the death. Authorities have not yet released information regarding the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the death.
Property records filed in Suffolk County show the residence is owned by Conan Harris, the husband of Democratic Representative Ayanna Pressley. Harris purchased the property, which is listed as an eight-bedroom, four-bathroom multifamily home spanning 2,713 square feet.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the cause and manner of death. Police have not indicated whether foul play is suspected at this time.
Rep. Pressley’s office has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the ongoing investigation. The congresswoman represents Massachusetts’ 7th Congressional District, which includes portions of Boston.
