A veteran Hollywood actor with a five-decade career was found dying in the front yard of a Los Angeles home Wednesday morning, allegedly killed by his girlfriend’s son in a shocking attack. James Handy, 81, known for roles in major films including “Jumanji” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” was discovered with a fatal stab wound to the chest.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a residence in the 19200 block of Erwin Street in Tarzana following a disturbing 911 call. According to authorities, the caller stated: “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
Officers arrived to find Handy unconscious in the front yard, suffering from critical injuries. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead.
Michael Gledhill, 44, was identified as the suspect in the killing. In a bizarre turn of events, Gledhill reportedly flagged down arriving officers and informed them he was the person they were searching for. Police confirmed that Gledhill lived at the residence with his mother, who was in a relationship with the victim.
Gledhill was arrested at the scene and booked into Van Nuys Jail on a murder charge. A judge set his bail at $2 million.
