Kristi Noem Challenges Texas Flood Response Allegations

Clear Facts
- Kristi Noem, DHS Secretary, refuted claims that her cost control policies delayed FEMA’s response to the Texas flood.
- Noem emphasized that her agency responded immediately, with support from the Coast Guard and Border Patrol.
- A spokesperson maintained that the network stands by its reporting on the situation.
In a recent development, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has taken a firm stand against allegations regarding her handling of the Texas flood response. An article accused Noem of implementing cost control measures that purportedly slowed down FEMA’s ability to address the disaster effectively.
Noem dismissed these allegations as “fake news” and “absolutely trash.” She asserted that her agency acted promptly to the crisis, stating, “Because our Coast Guard, our Border Patrol and our tact teams were there immediately. Every single thing they asked for, we were there.”
Noem praised the efforts of Texas officials, including the governor and Emergency Management Director Nim Kidd, highlighting that they received everything they needed promptly. She criticized the perpetuation of what she described as false information, saying it is a disservice to the country.
The controversy stems from a report that Noem’s requirement for FEMA contracts and grants exceeding $100,000 to receive her approval allegedly hindered the agency’s autonomy during the flood. The disaster, which affected six counties and resulted in over 120 fatalities, prompted questions about the efficiency of the response.
However, a DHS spokesperson clarified that Noem’s authorization was not necessary for deploying additional FEMA resources, as other DHS search and rescue assets were utilized. The department emphasized its shift towards a more efficient disaster response model, stating, “FEMA is shifting from bloated, DC-centric dead weight to a lean, deployable disaster force that empowers state actors to provide relief for their citizens.”
In a press release, the department confirmed that FEMA was activated in Texas, with the U.S. Coast Guard working tirelessly in search and rescue operations. Noem assured that federal resources were being deployed to support Texas first responders, urging prayers for the victims and their families.
President Donald Trump also took action by signing a disaster declaration to facilitate federal relief efforts. He, along with First Lady Melania Trump, plans to visit the affected area to assess the situation firsthand.
While the network stands by its reporting, Noem’s response underscores the ongoing debate over media narratives and the impact of policy decisions on disaster management.

I have a hard time believing the news media on anything! They have lied to us way to much!! I know the coast guard was rescuing as many as they could! I believe Secretary Noem more then the media! The same media thought Biden did a good job, and helped to hide his mental, and physical appearance! The media has no respect anymore!!

Yea, and the media can’t understand why no one believes or follows them. You wonder just how they create news out of thin air?
I guess that’s why Trump coined the term “Fake News”.
