Before kickoff, the Wildcats showcased their impressive new home in Evanston. The first points in the facility came from Northwestern when kicker Jackson Kleather connected on a 50-yard field goal to cap the team’s opening drive.
Running back Joseph Himon II broke loose for a 47-yard gain that set up quarterback Aidan Chiles for a short touchdown run. The Wildcats finished the first quarter with 144 yards of total offense, 109 coming on the ground.
Penn State managed to score once in the second quarter on an 8-yard run by Carson Hansen. Northwestern answered immediately with another touchdown and added a third before halftime to take a 24-7 lead.
David Braun’s team continued to control the game in the second half. The Nittany Lions struggled to move the ball, and a fourth-quarter interception by quarterback Rocco Becht ended any realistic comeback hopes.
