Clear Facts

  • Unranked Tennessee defeated sixth-ranked Alabama 26-10 at Neyland Stadium, handing the Crimson Tide back-to-back regular-season losses for the first time since 2007.
  • Running back DeSean Bishop led the Volunteers with 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Tennessee’s defense held Alabama to just 54 rushing yards and forced four turnovers.
  • Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell completed passes for 147 yards and scored the team’s lone touchdown on a 19-yard run, but threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles.

Tennessee’s defense delivered a complete performance that limited Alabama to 201 total yards and only three successful third-down conversions out of seventeen attempts.

Offensive line play and a disciplined rushing attack gave the Volunteers consistent production all afternoon.

“Tennessee relied on a stout defense and the steady play of quarterback George MacIntyre to win their third straight game.”

Alabama entered the contest already missing its leading receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, who had undergone knee surgery earlier in the season.

The Crimson Tide offense never found rhythm against Tennessee’s front seven and repeatedly turned the ball over in key situations.

“Alabama had just 201 yards of total offense, including 54 rushing, and turned the ball over four times.”

At halftime the score stood 12-10 after both teams combined for five turnovers and struggled to sustain drives.

Tennessee continued to impose its will in the second half, pulling away with additional scoring drives led by Bishop’s ground game.

The result marks another difficult afternoon for Alabama in Knoxville and underscores the Volunteers’ growing strength within the Southeastern Conference.
