Brown refused to comment on whether the win served as payback for Michigan’s controversial clock situation in a previous game against Western Michigan. “I’m not going to speak on that,” he said after a chuckle.

Bryce Underwood threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to JJ Buchanan early in the fourth quarter to give Michigan a 19-14 lead, but the Wolverines could not hold on. Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham expressed disappointment that his team could not run out the clock to secure the win.

Iowa had earlier taken the lead on Brown’s 16-yard touchdown pass to Vander Zee. The Hawkeyes later missed a 51-yard field goal attempt with 2:33 remaining after a false start penalty pushed them back on fourth down.

Iowa will face Ohio State on the road next week while Michigan travels to Minnesota.
